Hello once again my fellow Mylotters! My dog Daisey is irritating me soooo much. The house that we got her from was not very nice to her. And every time you go to put her in the kennel or if my husband even tries to pet her she will pee on the floor! I don't know how to fix it and I don't want to add onto her stress and anxiety by spanking her. I am sooo lost. I don't want to get those little puppy pads becuase I dont' want her to think that it's ok for her to pee in the house. Does that make sence? Thanks for any suggestions besides that one. Lol

I understand what you mean. I have found it easier to train or housebreak a dog by getting treats for them and when they do their business outside they get a treat. If not, they don't. It normally doesn't take long for them to realize that going outside is right and rewardable and going inside is wrong with no rewards. I hope this helps!

you don't mention her age, but you will probably have to show her the place she's allowed to "potty" quite often - like once or twice per hour... clean the floor where she's had accidents with soap and water, follow with vinegar and rinse. you may have to slowly allow daisey to get used to your husband on her own terms - if she'd been abused for a long time, and i assume it was a man, she may never warm up to him. but if she's ok with you, sit on the floor with your husband, very close; call her to you, and let her sniff at your husband - he should not attempt to reach out to her until she's ready.

hi tiffiny, Try this put an old newspaper to the place where u wanted her to pee. But, since ur dog is a female i think it is their nature to pee anywhere else even if you teach her several times. I have a female dog she chooses my bed just to pee so i tied her when am not around. My male dog is very well mannered even if there is no newspaper he will go to the toilet just to pee. goodluck

HI tiffiny, before we have a dog like that..my father used to put the dog face unto the floor where the dogs pee and that he believe that the dog doesnt like it..so the next time the dog wont do it again.

We use the puppy pads and have no problems. At least if you train them on a pad, you wont have to worry about finding little surprises around the house.

It sounds like she is peeing because she is scared, not because of "she doesn't know where to pee". It looks like she is afraid of men, as she was probably abused by a male. My Malamute was the same way with guys, but i have shown him that guys can be trusted. He peed the first time i went to see him, because he was scared. I brought him a treat everytime after that, and introduced that to him first. Then pet him while he was eating. This associates you with a good experience, therefore he will want to see you, and will be reminded of the treat everytime.
