Well, for me I really like teachers who are strict if he is doing it in a right way. I don't like teachers who are lax and has no control of his classroom. If the teacher is strict, students will behave and once they behave, they will learn faster. If the teacher lose control and has unruly class,no learning would take place. Do you agree with this?

Hello Bebs08! I am a teacher and I do believe that a teacher should be strict especially in implementing rules and regulations inside the classroom. When I am still a student teacher, I have compared two of my cooperating teachers. One of which is strict and the other one is very friendly and that she treated all her students like her friends. I can say that the strict teacher is more organized and more likely to control her students than to the teachers who is not very strict to them.

I agree with that. Well, it is important also for teachers to be friendly and approachable but not to the extent that they will no longer be respected by students because of too much familiarity. Teachers who are strict are mostly good in their discipline and teaching methods.

yes, the teachers should be firm...if it's a no, it should be "no"..but then not to the point that the teacher should be rude to her students..I even told my students, "outside I am your friend but inside the classroom, I am your teacher"

Well, I like strict teachers. They make students discipline and serious about something. I hate the too strict teachers, they knd make me hate them.I hate the teachers that are mad with us without any mistakes. I agree with strict teachers, they help a lot in marks and study but too strict teachers make the students that need attention in learning (I'm not included) are scared. I think strict teachers are also acting good when the students obey them. The strict teachers are mad because the students are naughty and disobeying.

The too strict teachers I mean, are teachers that likes to go mad everytime. I have a strict teacher in my school which acts lazy and shouts everytime like"Hey you sit down" or "Hey you, quite" She didn't even teach the right one u know. They just slack around and likes to wail to someone with high voice. I lie the stric teachers that are discipline, not like mad teachers that what i mentioned.

Hi Bebs,
Strictness in proper place for me would be effective..But not to cause the class a total silence that students are scared to participate in any activities! It doesn't also mean that is the teacher is strict, everyone will learn fast, sometimes, it create trouble for student's learning skills.
So, an effective teaches knows how to motivate the students with great classroom management!

yes, i do. they can be fun & kind w/it but alot of kids run wild because their parents don't take the time [& it takes alot of time]to teach their children how wo behave. it's just easier on the parents to let them have their way about everything.

yes you are right and if the teacher is not strict or has no command, the students will not behave. Kids need somebody to guide them and correct them when they are wrong. They should not be tolerated thinking that they are only kids. No, they should be taught what is right and wrong and if they've done wrong they should be corrected by imposing discipline.

I like the teacher that strict and has the ability to be kind at the same time, thus achieving to gain his students respect and interest.a teacher should be a bit more rough when he feels that things are getting out of hand. however,a good teacher should have a friendly attitude and accept other opinions. there are also people who believe that there has got to be a bound between teacher and student if any satisfying reasults are awaited.

I think teachers should shows his strictness with the naughty students, but shows his friendliness with the pacific students,if the teachers always shows the strictness to all his students, then all the students will be afraid of him, they will not get the good grade under his stictness. It my personal point of view.

I have the attitude of teachers being strict. If they say anything people would do in a reverse manner.Being friendly,co-operative will give you more positive results than being strict.

No, I don't like strict teachers. Students will learn better and more, if they found a teacher who is more like a friend,in fact, they will get more motivated as they are not under any pressure..They will work on their own,and not because of the fact that they are afraid. With a strict teacher, they will found it difficult to ask anything,or any doubt,as they are scared, this will result in a communication gap between a teacher and a student.

Well, you have a point here. But what I mean for the strict teacher is, they would stand to principles, they would not easily give in to the demands of some students and parents. He must be firm and strict with the rules but he must not appear as like horror.. lol. At least students would respect him not like some teachers who were just made fun by their students.
thanks for the reply.

As a teacher I need to mold the students to be better citizens of the world. I agree that teachers need to be strict but not to the extent of a student having a fear. There are times for everything in my classroom, a time to study and a time to play related to our lessons. In this way, they will know that you are strict because you care for their future and you are not strict because a teacher can be your friend. It is better to discipline a person while he/she is still young. =)

Well, when it comes to discipline or classroom management, I think teachers should not be lax because the students would not learn if the class is noisy with unruly children. Kids would not behave if their bad behavior is tolerated. Teacher must be strict, in the a way that would earn students respect.
