Friends list, why are there 21 people on it

Ok, I know we can invite or ask to be on someones friend list. But how in the world did I get 21 people on mine I only contacted one person? please explain this part of MyLot.

Don't remove them, just talk to them, maybe they know you?:)

I'm not sure how you got 21 friends without accepting their request, but you can remove someone from your friends list. I'd suggest you try that. Good luck!
