I must say to you guys that there are really moments and times in my life that I do eat my meal using that kind of technique. I consider it a technique because it is a special one for me because some people don't even know how to use it. It has been best regarded that if you don't know how to use your bare hands while eating, you are rich. I don't agree to that idea mainly because it is up to your discretion which method you prefer and is more suitable for you. Also, they say that you get more stuffed when you used it as well, have a great time always guys. I am really hungry right now and I am waiting to eat my meal that is why almost all of my discussions are based on food, and food alone sometimes. ^_^

I guess it depends on which country you are from - here in India most people use their fingers to eat and I think its pretty easy and as long as you wash your hands its very hygienic. I know that in a lot of countries you are taught to eat with knives and forks and spoons and this has nothing to do with being rich - its just the way some countries do it!

Same here pitstop. Imagine eating our rice and daal and subzi with spoons and fork! I am sure the good old daal-chawal wont taste the same if not eaten with our hands. And then can you tear a chapatti into pieces by a knife…no way. not to forget my beloved fish…how can I take out its bones if I don’t touch it with my own hands???

My partner eats with his bare hands when he eats chilli chicken from nandos. It's disgusting and he gets it all over his face and his hands but i think he enjoys it more this way.
My friend is Indonesian and her family sometimes eat with their hands. It's just part of life for some people.

Eating with bear hands is what i was tought since my childhood and i rarely use spoons unless i am at a party or some kind of gathering. I feel very comfortable eating with my bare hands. What kind of technique do you use and i have never heard anything of this sort that there are thechniques to eat with your hands.

Not gonna happen if it's not roasted spicy chicken on my plate. hahaha.. My classmates and I loves to eat in this particular restaurant and everytime we go there, we always have roasted, since it's there specialty. We always eat with our bare hands. It surely is the best dinner ever every time.

I eat with my hands except when dining out.. I'm Indian and in our country, eating with our bare hands is a tradition.. A significant cultural value.. So you might have got it right that I'm pretty good at using my hands!! And spoons and forks can test my patience.. Especially when I'm having rice..
After all.. What tool can match your own hand?? Nothing can replace nature and its creations

You know best_jr73. I haven't used "that kind of technique" in ages! But it is said the food tastes better when you do use that technique!
I think normal finger foods such as french fries, sandwiches and pizzas aren't what he means.
These days I usually eat with a fork and really don't think it's for the rich society as some people might think. It is probably just considered more hygienic I guess.

Eating barbecue food, pizza, crabs or lobster or even sandwiches is much easier if you use your hands. I always enjoyed eating with my hands. Feels like the food tastes much better. It is quite difficult to eat crabs with a knife and fork. You don't get the best and juiciest parts.

hi best.
yes i do eat with my hands. it's part of our culture here in the philippines. of course, i wash my hands first before i eat with my hands only. other cultures are quite surprised about his but when they are informed that it is part of our tradition, they give it a try.

I think that sometimes everyone eats with their hands. Think about it, is there any other way to eat a sandwich. And I love foods that I can just pick up and eat. Like chicken nuggets or fish sticks. Yes I do sometimes eat with my hands but then there are some foods that simply require utensils too. :)

I always use spoon and fork when eating but i think eating with bare hands is really fun or i should say it makes me savor my food more and more. Sometimes when i think of using utensils when eating i find it boring like when you go to fine dining restaurants. when i was a kid i always use my hands in eating provided i washed them of course. and speaking of that, i am now going to eat my meal and i think I'm just gonna use my hands.

hi best! i eat with my bare hands but it depends where i am and what i am eating. i guess the reason why people regard those who don't eat with their bare hands are rich is because most people who use their bare hands while eating are from poor families.
as for me, i eat with my bare hands if the food needs to be held with my bare hands like a fried chicken leg or a grilled meat on stick or anything like that. i also eat with my bare hands when we're eating at a beach or having a picnic in the mountain, or any cases that we are eating outside that there is no utensils.

You made some great points here in your discussion. It's funny I came upon this topic because I'm eating dinner in a few minutes. (LOL) Good time to respond to this is when I'm hungry! Ha, ha. So, ok I do eat with my bare hands quite often depending on the type of food because it saves me having to wash dishes and silverware. That saves time for me, so I think eating with hands is ok. Another idea is that eating with your hands saves time and allows us to eat faster. (That's probably why you said people stuff themselves more often when they eat with their hands.) I think it's still a good thing, though, and I enjoy it. However, when I'm having an official dinner with friends and family sometimes where we even have to dress up, I'll eat with silverware because it's more proper and better manners. It's like you said because if you're rich, you probably have the best manners and don't need to eat with your hands. (LOL) Everything you said makes sense, but I don't really care how proper I am because I still want to be able to use my hands. Sometimes it's just better and more fun that way. (LOL) Thanks for a good post and topic.

I am terrible for tucking into a meal just using my fingers, do not get me wrong I do know how to use a knife and fork, but I just prefer to use my fingers. I was taught how to use all cutlery properly as a child, and my family were quite strict on proper manners at the table, which is probably why I use my fingers now!!

Well, here in the Philippines, we use that "kind of technique" when the food is dry like fried fish, fried chicken. It's good to eat it using your bare hands. :)
