I'm not really a writer, but I want to be one. I would like to be able to write and sell my articles over at Associated content, gather and other writing or blog programs.
Whenever I try to write an article I get this writer's block. I start with a topic, but never ends it. I would really like to know your opinion on how to deal with this writer's block.
Should I pursue writing or just give it up? Please help me?

Writing is a discipline. If its easy, all of us would be writers.
I know exactly what you mean. I have experienced writer's block more than enough to say that its not a pleasant experience. Sometimes just taking a break and then coming back with a fresh mind is enough. Sometimes just writing no matter what, just to get the creative juices flowing, putting anything on paper, will work.
One thing you should not do is give up. Writing is work, and just like anything else, you have to keep working on it.

Sometimes you have to look within when you're blocked. Ask yourself are you writing what you really want to write or are you writing with the intent to please someone else?
I wrote an article on this very topic: http://www.tidbitsandstuff.com/articles/2cents/block.shtml
Hopefully it will help you cure your writer's block.
Don't give up writing if you love to write.
Good Luck.

Thank you for sharing the link. That's exactly how I felt. I'm having the writer's block because I'm not focusing on what I want to write, but on what others may think of my writing and the fear of being rejected and not get paid for the effort I put in it.

Whenever I get a block I just let it be. I don't try forcing myself to write because by then the writing is bland or I end up throwing out whatever it is I wrote. I just go and do something else. I find inspiration hits me at anytime, anywhere and if I am not sitting at my laptop but running errands I always carry a pen and paper with me.

Writing is not easy! So definitly don't give up. It takes a lot of patience and discipline to write (especially to write well!). When I have writer's block I freewrite which is just stream of consciousness writing where you just let the words tumble out about anything and don't care if it makes any sense. Or I do something that serves as a brain break like cleaning the house or working out.

I find that it is easy to write about anything if you have gained a lot of knowledge about it. So reading really helps. The daily broadsheet can give you a wide array of information. You could also try reading novels and magazines. Besides that, your experiences will also count. I am not a writer too, but there is also the desire somewhere deep within me to become one. So I also try to improve my skills. But with all the multiple roles that we play each day, reaching often takes the backseat for me.

Associated Content is a really good website. Music helps me express feelings that I didn't even know were there. I listen to particular songs when I'm writing about a particular subject. For example, when I'm writing something with a lot of angst, I listen to hard rock songs with pumping beats. My only suggestion is music. Try it.
