Ok a cat has showed up at our house out of nowhere. Of course, I've been feeding her. A couple of days ago she starts bringing me kittens. The are just old enough to be eating soft foods. We've got four in the house in a pen. One is still elusive and living under my shed. The pen is an old guinea pig cage and is plenty big for them. The idea was to tame them so we could find homes. I went out yesterday and got litter. They have a blanket at one end, food in the middle, and then litter on the other end. They are pottying on the blanket and sleeping in the litter. What can I do? I've never had cats before. Everyone I ask about the litter tells me they should do it on their own. Obviously not.

Take the blanket out and wash it. If you see them start going potty put them in the litter. Most house cats learn this from mommy. I thought it came naturally. Maybe they are just too young. I have 3 house cats. Two are from the mama. A stray had babies in my window well of my basement apt. I may be faced with the same problem. The mama is wild you can not even touch her. I hope to tame the babies and find homes for them.
