The Myanmar Government is not allowing aid to come in!

Can you believe that! They are so paranoid that some people might appreciate aid from the U.S. the Red Cross or the United Nations, that the dictatorship of Myanmar is willing that their people die, after so many have already died from the horrific cyclone, rather than allow aid to reach them! Could you ever want to be so in control (of others!) that you would risk other's lives? (I expect the answer to that is no!) But isn't it weird? How do people get to that low of a point on the human scale?

They said they would let them in next week, yeah, while all the bodies are still rotting and disease I'm sure is spreading. It's sad that their own government has decided they will dictate where to send supplies and use their own labor. These people could be eating now....
Maybe they're afraid that after they come in and help, they wont leave, isn't that what happens when other countries "help"??

I think that's the propaganda.. but I don't think they do unless there's mass killings going on.. Heck, no one usually even cares enough then to risk doing anything about it..

With more than 34,000 casualties and around 28,000 missing (and still counting...), it's really sad that their government doesn't show much concern. Because of Myanmar's military junta - often hostile and suspicious of outside interference - a lot of help that must get into the country can't be delivered. I hope that the leaders of the country find it in their heart to allow aid to come in for the sake of the citizenry. My heart goes out to the people of Myanmar. I do hope and pray that things will become better for all of them soon.

There is some aid getting threough. But their government makes sure it is stamped with some military leaders name etc so they think the help is from their own government. A real sad shame.

that is horrible. people will have no hope of being saved then. i do not know much about this place myanmar but it sounds like a terrible place to be right now. what would be wrong with them appreciating help from any of these factions? i guess i just don't understand.

That is so stupid and cruel. I have a feeling the people of Myanmar are smarter than they think though. Someday they will uprise and take their government back. Too bad it won't be soon enough to save all those lives.

These are stupid leaders who have no idea what public service is all about. They put their own agenda first before the urgent needs of disaster victims. Leaders like that don't last very long.
