This is what I do for silver jewelry. It's cheap and easy, but works amazingly well.
Cover the bottom of a glass or plastic pan with aluminum foil. Pour in about a 1 cup of boiling water, 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir to dissolve.
Drop the pieces into the liquid (safe for stones and other embellishments to the silver). Make sure each piece of jewelry is touching. Watch the tarnish literally lift away. Rinse and buff dry.
If it is really tarnished, you may have to do this more than once.
But, it really does work amazingly well.

To keep it from tarnishing or turning you green, put a coat of clear nail polish on the item. It works wonders. You do need to do this every few times you wear it. Because my skin is the way it is I do it every time. Most jewelry turns me green this is the only way I have found it not to.
