Ok, I was wondering if anyone is infected with the "Like" epidemic? What I mean by that is if you're infected, you will say "like" before or after every sentance or phrase on the particular subject at hand. I don't get it. Is it the latest trend, or from people watching too much t.v.? I notice it more in gradeschool kids since I work in many elementary schools and jr. highs. It's just that when I hear someone my age or a younger adult use this word over and over and over, it just reminds me of a little kid. Is it just a fad or epidemic?

I hear it alot too, even in my own children. They are 9 and 7. If its a fad its a long running one, so my bets on it being an epidemic!

It is so funny that you would bring up this discussion. Just the other day my youngest son came to me and asked how often I used the word "like" when I was growing up. He is so annoyed by it in his school. He told me that is all the kids say "like this" "like that", he is hoping when he moves on from this school that he will get to leave that part of the school behind lol. Lets just hope it is nothing more than a fad that will fade in time.

I still say that it is all a horrible plot designed to drive cute, tall, and dorky indians slightly insane (though the OP passed the slightly mark years ago). The one that drives me crazy is "you know?" ...... every statement starts and ends with "you know?", with a few thrown into the middle of the sentence just in case you missed it.

I originate from the North Yorkshire Moors, England. In that area, it has been a way to end sentences for many years, and still is. I suppose, therefore, the younger generation is catching up with the back woods of Yorkshire.
