Do you face this problem at mylot ??

I definitely do.. A lot indeed, and thats why theres this whole new discussion about it: Its basically two problems: One is that I constantly run out of ideas for starting new discussions.. The other is that I hardly find any nice topics to respond to.. Most of the discussions that I find are irrelevant to me.. I don't know what to do about it. Many days I find myself just signing in, checking how many extra pennies I have made(usually just one or two), searching in vain for some nice discussions and signing out.. I hardly start one discussion in a week.. But I can proudly say that all those which I start are genuine, original ones and get an overwhelming number of responses.. They are well received by the mylot community.. At least I can be contended with that

I don't really sit down and ask myself, "What can I use to start a discussion?" Instead, if a topic comes up in conversation maybe I will say, "I wonder what myLot friends would have to say about this?" and then maybe start a discussion about it. Or if I have a picture I want to share, this seems like a good place to do it. There are so many witty and imaginative people on my friend list that just replying to their discussions usually keeps me far to busy to go looking for new topics to reply to, but usually at the bottom of each page one or two related discussions will pop out and make me want to go post a response there, too. In truth, when I was a newbie, what you describe did happen, but that was before the people on my friend list were quite matched up with my interests, you see. I had just accepted friend requests from those who sent them and had yet gon out looking for like-minded friends. After you have been here a bit longer, people will start seeking you out because they find you interesting rather than just because you are "there" and then every day you will fiond interesting things happening here on myLot. Hang in there.

I find it hard to come up with good discussion topics also. I respond more to discussions, than start new ones. Somedays here I do nothing, like you, I log in and back out. It seems, however that the more you are here the easier it gets to get discussions going or find things that interest you enough to talk about. Good luck!

Lately I haven't had a hard time finding discussions to respond to. I have it set up for me to get a notification when a friend starts a new discussion through my email. I have found that my friends on here start some pretty good discussions. I do; however, have a hard time in starting a discussion as I do run out of topics to write about. I may start a new discussion once a week to once every two weeks.

hello benthose, I have same problem with you, I could harldy think of any topic which is unique aND new! I felt like everything was asked and posted already! Most are repeated for some reasons. About searching for topics to respond with, I have all my notification of my 300 friends which made me receive like 200 emails in a day so I have always something to respond with although not all, since some are not within my interest and comprehension! Cheers!

I answer many many more than I post. Here are some ideas for ways to find good discussions. I use the 'todays top' and 'todays hot topics' as well as recent, new, and ones from my friends. If you have lots of friends, or you have a friend or two who start at least 5-6 new topics at a time, it's easy to find at least a few to get involved in. I also read thru a whole thread, I don't just answer with my reply. I have made comments all the way down in a discussion before. I'm fairly new to mylot but if you post and comment a lot, you will get a lot of comments in return and even people who come looking for your comments and discussions =) If I post say... 20 responses in a variety of topics, I might get close to a dollar when the update happens. Depends on my referrals and how active they were as well.

I find the same problem. At the same time, I have the problem of having a great idea while doing something arbitrary, in the shower, on the toilet, in school, driving somewhere... and then when I get back to my keyboard I can't remember what it was. What an annoyance.

Occasionally I'll jot something down or save it in my phone so I remember for later. LOL! I think we become creative when we are multitasking.

Hehey!! I too find the same problem.. Not just with new discussion ideas but also with checking out some things in the internet.. Things like remembering websites..

But the good ideas always seem to pop up when you are busy doing something and so can't act on it. In fact, sometimes if I have a good idea and then just a few minutes later I decide to write it down and I can't remember it. Either that or I do write it down and then the piece of paper gets lost. Life is hard.

After signing up quite some time ago (& then promptly forgetting about it), I'm just now trying to actually check this thing out & see what it's all about. Of course, my original intent was to possibly earn a little extra money! But then, that's something we ALL need, isn't it? I guess my best bet in getting started would just be to look around & read some of the other posts? Blessings, JoannH

To begin you can just look around and get yourself used to this place!! And yes most of us started here with the intention of making money.. But as you gain more experience, you will know..

Hey thats great you get good responses, well done! I have the same problem with starting discussions, I can't always think of things to put, I usually find things when I've had a drink LOL! Sometimes I look really hard for discussions to respond to and then other days I find loads, strange but there we go. I'm nearly up to $5 and have been a member for ages! I don't think I'd be able to just start up loads of meaningless discussions just to earn extra money as I wouldn't be interested in the results. Anyway you are not alone in your problem :)

I hear that. There are some days that I find almost no discussions to interest me. But other times there are too many to respond to well. Those are usually the days that I have a number of other things that need to be done. lol. I'm glad that your discussions are well received though and I wish I could spend more time creating new ones, alas, the household duties call and I must respond to those first.

benthose I find that I have to look at most discussions as things that have happened to me in my past as I am older than a lot of you so perhaps if you use a different set of values to interest yourself in discussions that seem irrelevant to you you might find some common ground after all.I have sent that your discussions are quite popular so good for you and you ought to be proud of yourself. I think that most of my discussions are worth responding to myself..I am trying to say if you really want to make some money respond like crazy as that is the only way you will make anything, just a suggestion.

I find myself in the same spot more often than not. Sometimes if I can't find something to comment on, I just try to find something that I've been thinking about, and get it out there. Or if I meet a problem or have a question while I'm doing something else, I'll jump on here and ask!

When you get to be my age you can always find something of intrest. Even if it has been discussed before, because different people puts a different spin on things. I do however find it difficult to find topics to post for disscusion.

I do agree.. The very active ones over here that I know are mostly above fifty(though you aren't exactly!!).. Maybe its because they are retired and have more time available for socializing.. Or maybe their life experience keeps them going.. Hope I got it right!

I will be fifty in 18mos. and i am so excited, i can't wait. I have already started letting people know that i am planning a hugh outdoor party and everybody is invited! And i promise you that life experiences gives you a different slant on most things, including your age (i promise you when i was in my twentys i looked at turning fifty years old with absolute horror!)I later relized that as long as you learn as you age you are never "old" just more mature and hopefully smarter.

LOL. I think everyone experiences the same here. I have many topics, just that I lack the skill to 'craft' a good discussion. As for finding discussions to respond to, I have trained myself to try tackle all topics instead of being selective. Of course, I do select topics at times. I do not "checked" the pennies I will make.. Perhaps this is why I feel more comfortable responding discussions. LOL.

oh i definetly do.i usually answer more discussions than i post. it's hard some days finding something that hasn't been done before. once in a while i'll think of something, then have 2 or 3 in a day,but not usually more than that.

yeah thats the case with most mylotters.. They'll respond more than start new topics.. I think starting 2 or 3 a day is alright and anything more can mean that you are just for the money. Happy mylotting!!

I kinda have that problem also. I just look at things that are going on in my world and ask questions. Sometimes, I don't even know a similar question exists when I post mine. Things will come to you. Some days are good, somedays are bad.

Sometimes genius will strike when you least expect it to. When I read a response to a discussion I've started or even one I'm responding to someone elses discussion I'll look for ideas, they're there, you just have to look.

I myself has found this has a problem too. Some of the topics are not so entertaining and when you browse some are so close. I am new but I will encourage our members to be creative and to those who write discussion when someone give their response do not take it in the negative way but instead remember that we all have difference of opinions.
