So they've finally decided to turn Stephenie Meyers' work into a cinema experience.
Hurrah! -- or wait... What if they butcher the book, as we've seen happen to many a Harry Potter movie? What if Edward isn't as awe-inspiring as you had imagined? What if NONE of the characters are what you've imagined while reading the book?...
There are many concerns out there, and basically all we can do is wait and find out if any of them are a real bother. A trailer was released on the 5th of May, showing footage of Robert (playing Edward) and Kristen (playing Bella), some over-dramatic dialogue, and some quick clips of Emmett and Alice.
Being released on December 12th, 2008 into theaters, all we can do is march into the theater, watch the movie, and hope for the best.
Let us pray.

[What are your thoughts on the subject? Are you happy about the book being made into a movie? Or is will this just be a cheap, badly done way of making a buck?]

If you like the whole book, you will like the entire series :)
Edward is great, and throughout the series, you see a lot of other characters get more attention, which is nice.

I'm just now on the third book of Twilight and really enjoy the book and anxious to see the movie.I picture someone else in my head for Edward before I saw who it actually was.My daughters have seen the movie and liked it but says they could have done a better job with the movie, but all in all a pretty good movie I guess.

I'm pretty excited about the movie. They've been showing pictures of what the cast will look like...and I'm sooo happy with their choice for Edward! The guy who plays Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies is playing Edward. :D Woot!
Granted, things are definitely going to be left out of the movie...I just hope it doesn't turn out like Eragon. Loved that movie, but it left out far too much, including some important things.

There are really no perfect characters which can be put to life. I mean if Edward Cullen is viewed as a perfect guy, then it would be hard for the director to really find a perfect guy suited to play the role of Edward. But Robert Pattinson is just like Edward. I like the way he smiles, like Edward. And the rest of the characters like Kristen Stewart, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, etc are great as well.

Twilight was one of my all time favorite books. My family and friends are all awaiting the movie release. I was so excited about this becomming a movie. Stephanie Meyers wrote it so well, but I got discouraged too when I thought about what the directors might do to it. I hope it will be as clean as the book too and not trashed up for hollywood. I would be devistated if this came out with an "R" rating.

I've been following the movie for a few months now. Ever since Summit picked it up. I've seen the trailer, watched all sorts of specials on it, always check MTV for Twilight Tuesdays ... I'm a little obsessed. Anyway, I'm very excited for the movie. Stephenie Meyer has been able to give input on the movie, change things in the script, etc. so it doesn't go to far from the book. Plus, the guy playing Emmett is SOOOOO hot! (He really is... wow.) In fact, all the vampire guys in this movie are pretty good looking. At worst I'll have to sit through a couple of hours of staring at good looking guys - that doesn't bother me at all.
