Having grown up in the church and became a christian many years ago I am now at a point where I am studying theology and hope one day to work in the church . What are peoples views on women working and preaching in the church? I know in the Uk that the response is very mixed and I was wondering whether this is the same in the US and other non- UK places?

Hi i am from India. Here we have Church of North India and Church of South India as the biggest congregation, and both of them allow women leadership. We have Baptist also, am a Baptist. And Baptist here also allows women leadership. It seems to me that Brethren is the only one that does not allow. Even Methodist also allows.

I believe God can pick anyone he choses to use as he pleases, while some love to point out all the disciples were men they forget that often in the bible were women used in different ways for Gods purpose. In my honost opinion I think women in todays world are probly more apt to seek out God than men are because its not a macho thing so to speak in todays modern society.

Hi popcornbear, I was of the opinion that the Church of England now accepted woman as clergy, it is now quite common here in Canada and the US. Women are equal to men in every way and should be accepted as priests or ministers in the church. The Bible was written at a time in history that was quite different from our own, and it's time that people realized that. I wish you well in your chosen profession. Blessings.

Women always have roles in the early church. But these roles were not preaching. The bible was specific. Ruth and all the others were there as mothers. The bible say that the women (elder) should teach the young ladies the role of women in the church. Such as what to wear and to responds to there husbands demands etc. But today women are preaching and I do not think it is proper. Teaching sunday school class is always the role for the women. They are all saying that it is modern times now and so much has changed in the churches. But I would encourage you to read the scriptures and understand it for yourself. These changes that are in the churches has made the world sames as one. Please when you wish theology be like ruth and the others teach the proper thing.
