Recently my husband and I have been purchasing new items and getting rid of the old. Our newest recent purchase was a beautiful area rug for our living room.
We have had this rug for ONE DAY!
Well -- to my suprise I noticed that something looked off about the rug today, when yesterday it looked perfect. Upon closer inspection, I notice that "someone" had tried to color in the light colored spots with a black pen!!!
I called my 4 year old out into the living room and asked her what happened to mommys new rug. She put her head down and said the famous words "I dont know." I told her, listen, I can see the draw marks, so you need to tell mommy the truth. You wont be in trouble if you tell me the truth. Well she walked over to my desk and pulled out a nice black pen that she had used to color in the lines.
I wouldn't be SO upset had I not spent 80 bux on it and had it a little longer than one day.
Have you ever purchased anything and had it ruined by one of your children almost immediatley upon bringing it home, and do you have any suggestions on getting the ink out?

My suggestions for the ink would be to call the rug manufacturer or a company that makes rug cleaner. I've heard that hair spray can get ink out of fabric but I've never had much luck with that.
Something new ruined by kids....paint on the wood arms of my couch, wiped off with a towel from the set I just bought and then hidden in the laundry hamper full of mostly new summer clothes...how's that sound? LOL

Very good suggestion, thanks so much, i will try to give them a call tomorrow. I certainly wouldn't have thought of that, i could just cry looking at my rug... even though its not too terribly bad.
WOW all that trashed, thats pretty bad, I'm starting to think a little ink might be ok lol

Yep my kids didn't see paint for a long time after that incident! The clothes were mostly salvagable, I found them before they'd totally dried, the towel and the couch still have the paint on them, but the ones that did it grew up fast and I kind of miss those days...
