Have you ever donated your hair?

My ex boyfriend used to have extremely long beautiful blonde hair, however, I have never liked long hair on men and so he cut it after we got together and mailed the ponytail off to Locks of Love to be donated to make human hair wigs for children with alopecia or cancer.
I'm going to Europe this summer and I've decided to cut off my long beautiful brown hair and donate it since it will only be a nuisance. I have at least 8 inches, possibly more like 10-12 depending on the style I choose and I'm trying to decide where to donate it to.
There are 2 organizations that accept human hair donations for wigs here in British Columbia (Eva & Co. Wigs and Havana Technical Hair Design), as well as a few others across Canada (Angel Hair for Kids and Wigs for Kids), and then of course Locks of Love and several other organizations in the US. Since I'd prefer that it stay close to home, I think I'll donate it to one of the organizations in BC, although I'm unsure which yet.
Have you ever donated your hair for this cause? Who did you donate it to?

Kudos to you for considering donating your hair for a good cause.
I'm a 2 year cancer survivor and I remember how glad I was to be able to
get a wig from The American Cancer Society after I lost my hair to chemo therapy.
My hair has grown back and I wear it in braids. I'm not comfortable with getting perms because of the chemicals in the hair products.
I'm sure a lot of folks can benefit from your donation.
