Will you give a knock to your devices when they start to stop working? I am sure you will be frustrated on the sudden stop of devices such as handphones, computers and other hand-held interactive devices.

Well, I do! Sometimes it's out of frustration, but sometimes, it's more "strategic". Actually there's a term called 'technical tap'. It actually works sometimes; because, for example, there might be something in those electric connections a bit loose, giving the thing a technical tap could reestablish that connection. Of course, it's only a temporary cure =')
So when all else fails, give one a technical tap, as a first aid, then call someone who knows what he's doing LoL!
DISCLAIMER: I am not a certified technician :'p

, though you are not a certified technician, may I know what is your definition of technical tap?

Heheh.. actually, that is the technical tap. It's a forceful or mild(?) hit at an electronic or mechanical device intended to temporarily make such device operational again =')
What it does is reconnect any loose connections, reposition something that may be in the wrong place or position, or disengage whatever may be stuck between the working parts or electronic connections.
Shaking the thing isn't that much different =')
You made the driver nervous haha!

I have slapped a device when it quit qorking on me, but I did not slap it hard enough to damage it. I am always afraid to make it totally unusable. My husband loses his temper though and when something does not work, it will never work again when he is done with it. He will hit it, slam it, and you name it.

There was once the ticket dispenser stopped working and my card is inside the ticket machine such that this machine requires a card to dispense tickets in the bus. So, I hit the machine and the driver scream "Don't hit the machine!" in mandarin. I replied, my card doesn't come out so I must hit for it to dispense the ticket and return the card. . The driver was of no choice but to stand up and open up the machine and retrieve my card and dispense the ticket by twitching one of the lever type component which I have no idea what it is called.

I do this, then curse afterwards when i realize i broke the keyboard support, dented the computer case, broke a mouse connection, ect, ect.
So i try not to do it anymore, as it usually makes it worse than better.
I find throwing old CDs around is wonderfully stress relieving too.

Oh, actually I sometimes do that. Take computer as an example. When we move it from one place to another, the devices such as network card may get loosened which prevent your pc from booting proper. That usually happens to desktop computers in which the hardwares are not integrated wholly. Sometimes it works to give it a knock or a pat. Tell you a story about my TV. It rained for many days recently in my place. It may get moisture on the inner components and the TV did not work properly. The screen minimized itself horizontally to a narrow rectangle. We got very frustrated and had to turn it off. Later, I gave several knocks to it. To our surprise, it worked and the TV returned to its normal condition. Sounds amazing, doesn't it?

That can be very frustrating at times... but i have never done that... hit a machine for not working properly... i think instead of making thing work... it will just make it a lot worst... so i would just look for the technician guy... it one is available... or just go to the next device...
