I have the opposite problem, I have a hard time drawing people, though I practice, which is all you can do. Mostly, I like to draw objects and animals. This is in contrast to my paintings in which I like to paint landscapes and cityscapes.
If you are having problems with a certain subject, all you can really do is study and practice. Still lifes are pretty easy to set up, too. Just draw anything.
With me drawing people, I usually use my self-portraits, but I sometimes will use photos. I don't usually have trouble drawing people as a small part of a scene, mostly just portraits.

Your right about practice, I know that is all we can ever do if we wish to get better at anything. I think for me the problem with buildings is there not alive and they of course are composed of straight lines and I enjoy the flow.

I, too, prefer drawing people (primarily women) and animals. Natural inanimate objects (such as trees, rocks, etc.) aren't so much a problem for me though, but I have a very hard time with anything mechanical, like cars and buildings. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that those things tend to have a lot of straight lines, instead of curves. Most of the artists I know are the same way, but I've met a few that are the other way around, preferring instead to draw things that they can take a ruler to instead of more fluid lines.

i think it matters on what your interests are. it just so happen that your interest is drawing people. and there are those whose interests are drawing buildings. in my case, i like drawing anime characters since i'm an anime fan. i used to draw a lot of anime characters when i was still a student. i don't have much free time now so i don't draw anymore.

Yes, that is common. I---just like you--- prefer to draw people; i love sketching faces which reflect my every mood and emotions. I can draw imaginary faces but I am also good in copying pictures. I also find it easy to draw animals, but just like you, I'm not into buildings and I think that is not my interest. However, I also find it fun to make colorful pictures of foods, fruits, well, maybe because I do love to eat.
