Recently a lot of people have told me that Beagles have a tendancy toward biting. My beagle has never really shown signs of this type of behavior she usually hides from strangers. What have you all heard?

This is the most outrageous thing I ever heard. Beagles are passive and do not bite. They are listed in the top five family dogs for a reason. They are not just for hunting anymore!!! My nephew carries around my Daisy (full blooded, well bred beagle hound!!!) without a care as to how he holds her up and she has never thought about biting him. With my husband, he gets her wound up, she play-bites, but that is it. She has never broken skin or anything.

My beagle doesn't bite or run from strangers. He jumps all over everyone and kisses them! Lol!
I've been wanting to make a cute sign to put in the yard that says:
"Beware of Dog...Kisses!"

My beagle Pearl is the ONLY beagle I've ever had who even growls at people She does, and she's actually a good watchdog, but this is unusual for a beagle. She's extremely jealous of other people or pets who get close to us and we think that's why she tends to be a little hostile. But normally beagles are very sweet and love people.

We've had our beagle since he was a puppy. The first week or so we had him, he would nibble on our hands when we would hold him. But, since then he's never bit any of us or anyone that comes over the house. I have a four month old, and he's great around him. I love my beagle!
