Chess is one of my favorite game.
I do certainly think that chess helps a lot by making you think differently, the same situation and this would most certainly help you in your life.
Only you don't play chess blindly or by simply following the rules. You plan, organize and execute.Your brain is under work, but the only thing is that you like this work
Hence it certainly improves your Intelligence or IQ,and also memory power.
Cheers! Have a good day
Happy mylotting and happy earnings.

Yes I believe so. Since it involves analytical skills therefore it requires full participation of the mind. Once the mind works, it uses all it's arsenal there including the memory. Your memory then will improve once constantly practice. Just like any other things, practice makes perfect.

yes, it improve memory powers, since you need to remember the moves that you need to use in order to win the game.. my classmates who are chess players in school, reads a book that teaches them the different kinds of moves that you need to play the game more effectively.. and in playing the chess game, you are thinking of possible ways in order to win, on how you could check the king and etc..it is a mind games where you also need to to analyze..

This is really true. It can really help a lot to improve ones memory especially if you are old. It helps to prevent alzheimers disease and according to some recent studies it was really true and proven.

Its not in the opening where you will learn a lot and improves your memory. Its in the process of internalizing the idea and processing the learning in your mind. Have you seen the special featured in NatGeo entitled "My Brilliant Brain" ? Well, just search for it and that explains a lot on what and why chess improves memory! It is scientifically proven already.

I think it improves both your memory and analytical skills. You need to remember quite a lot of moves and the ways to counter them if you want to be truly good at them. This is especially true for recognising traps. No matter how good you are at analysing, you would still get trapped the first time you encounter some traps because you just didn't think of that possibility. However, such encounter will be captured in your memory and you would detect that trap easily the next time you encounter it.
