No Respect!

Hello Mylotters, I just have to say that nothing surprises me anymore. I'm talking about the children in this generation. Some don't have no respect for anything or anybody. One about 14yrs. old was walking in the street and cars were coming left and right, seeing that he wasn't trying to walk over to the side walk where he was suppose to be in the first place. As the cars slowly drove by him he would give the drivers the finger. I thought maybe the young boy was angry or upset at something. He then walked onto the side walk where he was approaching some other kids. So I decided to have a talk with this young kid. I asked him was he alright, he looked at me like he didn't know what I was talking about. He said yeah. So I began to ask him why didn't he walk on the sidewalk instead of street and he said because "I rule the streets and I can do what I want and there ain't nothin nobody can do about it". I knew this wasn't going to be easy. I told the young kid along with the other children that were there. It could have been someone behind the wheel that could have been drinking or doing drugs or just being upset and not paying attention. You don't want to ruin your life because you think you rule the streets. Half or if any of these people don't even know who you are. You could have been hit and killed or paralized. I just told them (him) to think about your life and putting someones life in danger. No one wants to see you hurt or dead just because you feel the way you do. I know I could have went about my business, but I felt the need to speak with him even though I know he knows better. Was I wrong for saying something to him? Should I just turned my head and kept going? It's hard for me to turn my head as if nothing happened, he's just a baby himself.

I believe in my heart you did your best... To many people turn their head when it comes to todays youth and problems...One voice can shout change...You never know one of those young kids might have heard your voice and changed...

You know with the way the world is today, you can hardly give good advice to children if you see them doing something wrong. Alot of people don't want you saying anything to their children. And you can't blame them, because of the people thats out there for wrongful intent. I just got to thinking about reading about that young man in the newspaper hurt or even killed. I just hope i did the right thing. And you're right Breath, out of the children that I spoke to just maybe someone heard me. Thanks for your response.

You changed your world for the better that day by taking the time and trying to help someone. You may never know the impact you had on those youngsters just by speaking up.

Yes it happens... In fact, I would think it is a natural progression in society. Last time, people were too busy worrying about peace and food to bother with other things. But nowadays, most parts of the world need not worry about such fundamental needs. Hence, we move on... for better or worse (lol). That kid is a by product of the ADVANCEMENT of society.

It happens when they feel they can get away with things without being punished... just be careful...
