I saw a interview this moring and it made me think to ask you guys. Do you think that race plays a part in sports? And if you Do: why do you think it plays such a big part? The reason I ask is because I know there many African american atheletes that refuse to discuss race with the media because they feel their comments would not be protrade in the proper form. I would love to hear your opinion on this topic. Tiwana302008

Well certain sports require certain physical attributes and certain ethnic groups happen to pocess those attributes more than others. ALthough this is not politically correct, its quite obvious to most people.
Look at basketball. Height matters in basketball and for that reason you tend to find more people of African decent playing in the top leagues of the sport. You don't find so many Asians in the top levels of the sport, because Asians usually don't make the height requirements. Of course there are exceptions - Yao Ming is taller than Shquille O'Neil but on the whole, Africans tend to be taller than Asians and so you find more of them in top-level basketball.
Badminton by comparison requires a certain amount of agility and size is often a handicap. As a result, you tend to find more Asians in the top level of the sport rather than Africans or Caucasians.
Is this racism to point this out? Watch the NBA or a Thomson Cup and let me know if I was totally incorrect.
