Ok, which dog did you have first? How did you bring the newest dog home? Did someone else bring the newer member of your family to your home and drop him off or did you actually go and get him and bring him through the door yourself? It is very important that the older dog see you bring in the new dog. You are the leader of the pack. You set the rules. If older dog sees you, the leader bring in the newer dog into the home, he should accept the newer dog. In your situation it is a little different! You are already trying to deal with who is in charge. When they start to fighting do you interrupt? Do you break them apart? Dogs have a pecking order like chickens do. whoever is the toughest wins. I have had up to 5 dogs at one time. All where males, not neutered! We always brought our new dog home ourselves, made sure that all the other dogs seen them come home with us and if that didn't work, we let them fight it out to find the pecking order. That seemed to work. Most generally they will not hurt each other, one of them will cower and learn who is the toughest and then will respect that. But, you must stay out of the middle of it!
