Now that IE7 and Firefox 2.0 are out and slugging it out for supremacy, which browser do you prefer? I personally have been using Firefox for about 2 years now and haven't missed IE at all. But I did download the new IE7 to give it a spin; I'm sticking with the more nimble Firefox, though.

I am an avid FireFox user now, and don't miss IE at all. There are still very rare instances when websites won't perform 100% on FireFox, and I open up IE, but this is getting to be less and less of an issue, thankfully.

Same here, it's been 2 years and I haven't missed IE at all. I only installed the new IE7 to see the new version. Microsoft is good at taking ideas from good products and adding them to their own. How do you like the way MS moves menu items around, changing the user interface, causing users to hunt and search for functionality they're used to having?

For the most part I use Firefox, but sometimes I still use IE. Some sites I've noticed still don't load properly in Firefox, so I'll open IE for that reason. I love Firefox because it has the download manager and you can download more than one file at a time.

Absolutely. That comes with the territory, though, since FF is an open source endeavor. Many of the add-ons are by third parties. Quality assurance is pretty much up to the public to make sure add-ons work as they should. Feedback to the add-on creators are key to better add-ons.

As far as I can tell, Firefox is working fine for me. I have encountered problems a few times when I submit responses. The browser just seems to spin and never completes. myLot might be having some issues with handling too many requests; I notice that certain times of the day the entire site seems slower--like around late afternoon, early evenings (4-8pm Pacific)
I also notice that myLot URLs have filenames with .aspx extensions. This leads me to believe that they use Microsoft's Asp technology; so, their site might be optimized for IE. Not certain about this here, just a hunch.

Hey, I just installed Opera 9.02 on my computer and am writing this using it. So far, the browser seems pretty nice. I like the preview popups on the tab mouseovers. Seems like it's faster than Firefox for some sites (like myLot), but slower for others (like Yahoo! Mail Beta). Anyway, I'll continue to evaluate for a while longer; will give another update in a few days.

Firefox for me. IE seems too kludgy and unprotected to me.

MS certainly added some level of security to the IE7 browser. Most notably, they added the anti-phishing filter. But I found that it slowed down the surfing experience quite a bit. Sometimes it even keeps the browser spinning for a good 10-30 seconds b/4 a page loads. It's a nice feature; but I could live without it. I just have to be more careful about visiting suspicious sites.

ah, great point. i've heard lots of great things about opera and tried it out briefly; but it never really caught on with me. perhaps it was b/c the opera browser wasn't free at the time. anyway, i should give it a try again. thanks for reminding me about this one.

I'll bump up Opera aswell, it feels more natural and is also very flexible. Firefox isn't bad either, actually I'm using it right now (at work). Both of them are good, but I hate IE. It has the worst support for html, xml and css standards.

I totally agree with you. I did run into a little problem with the 2.0 version, though. I've been trying to install the Yahoo toolbar, but keep getting this error:
Firefox could not install the file at
http://us.dl1.yimg.com/download.toolbar.yahoo.com/dl/toolbar/us/yahootoolbar-1.3.0_us.xpi
because: Download error
-228
Any ideas?

Hi pintac, I like mozilla firefox because it is much secured when compared to internet explorer. It has an advanced security feature which makes it safe to use. I like also the add-ons, plug-ins, and extensions of mozilla, thus making it more useful. However, I also used IE because there are some websites that cannot be opened by mozilla, so I used it rarely.
Have a nice day and God speed!
