Ubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.
You can Download Ubuntu OS from this link for free http://www.ubuntu.com/products/GetUbuntu/download
Or you can request a free Ubuntu CD from this link https://shipit.ubuntu.com/
The Ubuntu promise

Ubuntu is simply one of hundreds of open source Linux distributions available today. I have used Ubuntu and agree that it has a very user friendly interface, as do many others. My favourite Linux distribution is Mandriva, although I have tried several over the years.

I agree with you that Ubuntu is simply one of hundreds of open source Linux distributions available today but don't you feel that Ubuntu has brought a revolution in the OS world especially in the linux world and I personally think that because of Ubuntu many other linux distributions are now trying to be user friendly which was hard to find before.
I have tried RedHat OS even when Fedora and Ubuntu was not there and even I was impressed by the idea of free softwares I was not able to make those OS usable because of many problems like no drivers, dependency hell etc and I always have to return back to Windows. I have almost given up on linux and then I found Ubuntu which just work.

I am now using ubuntu on my PC,it is cool.Ubuntu seems to have some feature better than windows. The open and free OS would become more and more popular, all we need might be more software developers to do the development work for ubuntu. We should do more to improve the ease of use of ubuntu.Hope that ubuntu will be more successful!

All right! Good to see Ubuntu getting some publicity. It's my distro of choice as well.

Yes Ubuntu is the community developed OS. Its always free to use. Whats more interesting is that If you have poor dialup connection and you are not able to download the OS. Then you can just Order a CD for free. The OS CDs will be delivered to you free of cost. No catch at all. I have already recieved the latest OS. So stop wasting time and Go to their website and download/ORDER free CDs. These CDs are free and covered under GNU licence. You can freely copy the cds and distribute among you friends.

Ubuntu is really sweet when it works! been using it for a few years now and I often Dualboot. Over the years its really progressed however what really makes this OS so special compared to other Linux distros is the community.
They simply are eager to help you with almost any problem that you have either via their great forum or IRC. I just got Heron in the mail so I will definetly be giving it a run this week. I think most problems that new users have are because of hardware support. Now that Linux is on the rise, i think this problem will be easier.
btw open solaris ships free now :)
