Haven't we tasted the water from sea? It is salty. It is believed that millions of years ago, salt was formed due to evaporation of sea water. It is necessary for about nine-tenths of the volume of sea water to evaporate for rock salt to be formed. Many commercial salt is obtained from rock salt. It is difficult to say how much of salt can be obtained one 1 litre of sea water. May be 50% of it and I am not sure. In fact I love salt and without salt in food, my meal is not complete.

Oceans and seas contain lots of water. How so much salt is colected in these water, there is no infomration. Can anybody highlight? There are countries which convert salt water into drinking and potable water through desalination plants which is quite expensive. It is estimated that out of 1 litre of sea water, one can extract 30 gms of salt.
