Ending a Bad Day With a Good Laugh

Today has been a rather sad and heartbreaking day here on the lot. But as it progressed it got better thankfully. So before I drift off to lala land, I thought I'd leave you all with a giggle, to start tomorrow off with a smile. I'm sure some of you will relate to this, but some won't - so trust me, it really is funny! LOL "WHAT DATING WAS LIKE IN 1960 It's the summer of 1956 and Herb goes to pick up his date, Peggy Sue. Herb's a pretty hip guy with his own car and a duck tail hairdo. When he goes to the front door, Peggy Sue's mother answers and invites him in.'Peggy Sue's not ready yet, so why don't you have a seat?' Peggy Sue's mother asks Herb what they're planning to do. Herb replies politely that they will probably just go to the malt shop or to a drive-in movie. Peggy Sue's mother responds, 'Why don' t you kids go out and screw? I hear all the kids are doing it.' Naturally this comes as quite a surprise to Herb and he says, 'Whaaaat?' 'Yeah,' says Peggy Sue's mother, 'We know Peggy Sue really likes to screw; why, she'd screw all night if we let her!'! Herb's eyes light up and he smiles from ear to ear. Immediately, He has revised the plans for the evening. A few minutes later, Peggy Sue comes downstairs in her little poodle skirt with her saddle shoes,And announces that she's ready to go. Almost breathless with anticipation, Herb escorts his date out the front door while Mom is saying, 'Have a good evening kids,' with a small wink for Herb. About 20 minutes later, a thoroughly dishevelled Peggy Sue rushes back into the house, slams the door behind her and screams at her m other: 'Dammit, Mom! It's the Twist! ....It's called The Twist!" For those of you who don't know - The Twist was a new dance craze! Some mothers just aren't hip no matter how hard they try! LOL Do you consider yourself a hip parent, or have you made a faux pas like Peggy Sue's mom?

I had a chat with Mooch.... but I have not gotten far enough along to read of Gabs, argggggg it is upsetting. My star took a hit, whilst I was away yesterday. I suppose I could not stay immune for ever. I am working on yesterdays and todays posts still so I will get caught up with your other ones too......

Yesterday a 'friend' of our dear Gabs accused her of being a 'phoney'! Can you agine that? It upset her so badly that she posted her 'last discussion'. So I posted one in her defence and the support on it is now running to five pages and counting. So now she has decided to just post less (mostly Gissi posts) and stay in the background. My discussion is called "Losing a Mylot Treasure". Then TODAY, Mooch's stalker, a user named hiccup, has driven Mooch into background retirement with his insults and false accusations. I'm just sick over this crap happening to really the best people on this site. So last night before I went to bed I had to post something fun to start everyone's day with a smile, and I think tonight I'll have do it all over again!

Ok, Now your really got me laughing here. lmao More so than the joke itself. Would you believe one of the voices told me to write that? Not very often I have good comebacks being my mind is usually swirling around in a misty fog with faraway voices coming and going.

That is hilarious! LOL! I was trying to figure out what she was trying to say! LOL! And, although I am a product of the 70's, I was familiar with the Twist! LOL! I am not a mommy to any human babies yet and, my cats and dog don't seem to ever get embarrassed by anything I say...at least, not that I can tell. LOL! Although, I managed to tick myself off so bad last night during dinner preparations that I let out a string of F bombs that had my dog concerned a little bit. LOL! I know...vulgar mommy! LOL! The good thing is, as ticked as I was, as soon as I looked over at my dog's face, which was about 4 seconds after the hissy fit, I felt so bad that I scared him and had to start giggling at how immature I was being and then I apologized to my dog and told him that he was a good boy, thanked him for being my sane spot, and was over it, just like that! LOL! My dog looked relieved, wagged his happy tail, actually winked at me, and we both went about our individual businesses! LOL!

Cortjo I do believe you have just come up the most brilliant idea of all time! We will just pretend all trolls here are in training to become mylot pet 'peeves' and they will be trussed and muzzled and whipped and chained and starved and poked and prodded from one end of the site to the other. Every morning they will have to run a guantlet through the discussions, being tortured at every turn until they cry Uncle and slink away to lick their wounds! Now all we have to do is run a competition to see who can build the best troll trap and watch the games begin!

LOL! Whew! I had a semi-tempermental day yesterday! LOL! Dang this being a girl thing! Ugh! LOL! Doctor, we need a Midol, STAT! I think I am over the tempermental part now...although, when I spilled some of my coffee this morning while trying to get into the office, I was a bit torqued again. I need an office dog or cat! LOL! That's it. I need a "Class Pet" like some schools have! Or, it would be nice if my bosses would just let me bring one of my 4 pets here to the office each day! Oh well! Maybe I can find a troll and train him to be a pet! Can a troll be trained? And, I don't just mean potty trained! LOL!

Hahahaha. That's a funny one! My kids aren't teens yet, so being hip isn't that important. I think I am, we have similar fashion and music likes and dislikes, but that's just probably cuz they are all still at the stage where they just want to please mom. I sing Hanna Montanna and the Jonas Brothers songs along with the Disney channel. I get all into it like they do when I'm not watching. But they just think that's silly, this old lady getting down to the tweeny music.

They'll appreciate it later, believe me. My kids used to think I was nuts knowing all the current artists and their songs, but when it came time in their teens to want certain recordings for Xmas gifta and things, they sure were glad then that mum was up on 'that stuff'! LOL

Spark honey I thought you were in la la land when awake and went into reality only when asleep? lol I love that story - it creases me up! I don't know about being a hip parent, i have rules and boundaries and am really quite strict in some ways but also very open and honest with my kids and they know that they can come to me with anything! I am quite up to date on things so haven't done anything like peggy sue's mum - unless I do it on purpose - what is the point of having kids if you can't tease them?lol So for me I guess I am somewhere in between hip and daft! lol xxx

thanks for a good laugh to start my day! I thought maybe her mother was setting Herb up to find out if he was really good enough for her daughter! I do think most of the young moms knew what the twist was, and were doing the dance with the kids! I wasn't born yet, but I do remember the twist and of course, there was the game, twister! I am not hip, I am nothing! lol.

If you even now what the Twist is, you're hip! LOL When I saw that a 60's mom was using the word screw, I just had to laugh out loud. I just can't imagine it and I was there! LOL

As a matter of fact after my daughters sleep over last weekend I was dubbed the coolest mom ever! How many parents do you know that will go out in the yard and do cheer leading mounts with a bunch of 12 year old girls. I also listen to the coolest radio station in the car and am an expert at painting nails and doing hair. Yes all of my daughters friends can't wait to come over again and hang out with me! lol My non cheerleading daughter was not amused!

That is a classic! I like to consider myself as a hip parent but I can see the possibility of such a faux pas in the future. It is easy being hip while the kids are young, however as we all grow hip can change! Glad that your day progressed towards better, may you sleep well and start the day fresh full of laughter and happiness. Big hugs and sweet dreams to you

Thanks for the joke, it put a smile on my face. I am a mother of five and although I don't think I have ever said anything quite like that, I do think there have been times that I have embarrassed my children in front of their friends. Oh well, that's what mothers are for.
