Maybe he is giving you kisses :) I'm not sure because you did not say if he was licking you or himself. If it's himself, he just likes to be a clean doggy :)

Dogs will lick often because of lotions, skin care products, salt, anything that gets on your skin the dog will taste. Although its not proven, dogs licking also can show affection but theres no proof on that its just a theory

They need the salt but that is not the only reason. It is her way of kissing. She is showing affection.

I have a black lab, he doesn't like to lick ppl but he loves to jump on them and have them pet him. He does lick his legs and paws an awful lot, but ppl I have talked to say just goes with the territory for labs.
I do think it is the salt from the skin that the dog craves when they tend to over-lick ppl.

It's their way of showing acceptance and saying "hey, I like you!" A vet once said that it's part of their way of verbalizing with humans.

Well atleast he doesn't constantly lick himself like my dog!
