That was a good weight for being 6 weeks early. That is good she only had to stay in there for 5 days.

we all thought that about her weight. When she was first born they told her dad that she might have to go to a bigger hospital if her lungs weren't developed enough but she proved them wrong. She now outweighs her 9 year old sister! Not by a lot though.

busdriver, Your baby was very tiny, I would be so afraid to even hold her. I know that was very hard on you when she was in the hospital for so long. I am very glad that she is a yoing lady now and doing very well. My daughter did have a premmie. It is a very scary experience. But I think it makes you love them that much more.

Yes it was hard when she was in the hospital. I wanted to be there all the time. My mother was there the hole time. She helped me through this.

I had a set of bbg triplets at 33 weeks 5 days. They weighed 3.15, 4.2 and 4.11 and all 3 came home at 9 days old. THey will now be 6 yrs old the end of June and other than a heart murmur in my daughter that is NOT causing any problems what so ever, they are totally healthy.

I had 2 premature babys. My oldest is 17 and when he was born couln't breath on his own. I had to learn all about different monitors and things so I could bring him home when he was 3 weeks old. They told me becouse of him coming so soon that he would have learning disablitys and other physical disabilitys. Becouse he could not breath on his own his brain was deprived of oxogen. Like I said he is now 17 and liked 5 points of making a perfect score on his high school graduation test. Although he has some hearing and sight loss he still is at the top of his class and doesn't let his disabilitys hold him back in any way.

I have never had a premie, mine was late, but I would like to say I respect anyone who has had a premie because of the patience and having to live through the fear of if your child is ok or not. It would scae me to have to leave the hospitsl without my child. thinking about getting to them the next day and hoping everything will be ok, thatjust scares me.

Both of my daughters were born at 36weeks.Not really too early. But my oldest weighed 5lbs 10oz and my youngest weighed 7lbs 1.7oz. My cousin on the other hand. Her oldest daughter weighed 2lb 10oz, her middle daughter was 5lbs 7oz, and her younest was born 3 months early and weighed 1 pound 12oz! They are all very healthy to this day some delays but that's expected but her son who only weighted 1 pound is doing great he is almost 2 now and you would have never expected him to be a premee.

I myself was a premie. 32 weeks is what I was told. I was 3 pounds 3 oz. And that was back in 1970. My grandmother always said I was a tiny miracle. I haven't had a premie. My daughter was full term. Premature babies can thrive if given the right care. Good for you and your daughter!

Thankfully all of my kids overcooked, but my cousin was way early. I don't remember the number of weeks I just remember hearing the grown ups saying she was 2 lb 2 oz. and that the doctors were going to write her off till my Grandpa got really crazy. We got her clothes from a doll maker. She's alive and well and is a mother two times over now. Both of hers were really premi too.
