somewhat philosophical discussion on life?

Have you ever thought about the earth and how much bigger it is than yourself? I mean, there are 6 billion people on this earth. 6 billion people with friends, family, lovers, bosses, pets, etc.. We get so caught up in what's going on with our own lives that we sometimes forget what a tiny part we play in such a big universe. I'm just babbling here. Is there anything about the earth or life in general that just blows your mind? I think about the ocean a lot. It's a necessity to our survival on earth and at the same time, it's a huge recreational instrument. Think about all the people who do some sort of water activity, whether it be fishing, surfing, swimming, boating, going on cruises, etc..etc. But while the ocean serves those two purposes, how often do you think about the life under the sea? How many thousands (millions, maybe? billions?? who knows) of different species live under the water? And that's just how many we know about! What kind of animals live down there that we can't even begin to imagine because we don't have the technology yet to find it. Think about all of the big things that have occurred in the past few decades - invention of the telephone/TV/automobile, huge medical advances, technological advances that people in the 1800's wouldn't have even been able to imagine (cell phones, the internet and all it's possibilities!, etc..etc). It seems almost impossible that technology could advance even farther. I can't even imagine the devices that my great-great grand children are going to be using. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone else. If not, feel free to respond just to babble.
