i see many beggars sitting or lying around in the city. do you give coins to them? me, i usually don't give money. my thoughts is that i don't know what they're going to do with the money, it would be either they will buy it for drugs or food. what i gave them is usually food. how about you, what's your point of view?

No I don't. There are plenty in Malaysia and the beggars are usually part of a syndicate which takes the money and gives nothing to the person begging.
In some instances, they kidnap or take healthy individuals and chop a couple of limbs off just to make the person look like a beggar.
Giving money to them is like supporting the syndicate so I just don't. I tried to give food to one of them - this was very long ago so I don't remember the exact details but I do remember getting scolded. So since then, I avoid them.
In places like Thailand, Vietnam and so forth and especially tourist hot-spots, DO NOT give out anything to children because once you do, they'll all come swarming to you. My father-in-law made that mistake in Thailand even though my hubby and I told him not to and one of the kids trailed us for 15 to 20 minutes on foot. =.=

well...actually it depends upon the type of beggars whom approaching me to had some money....
i actually give some to those whom are really needy as we can see as he/she is really struggling for living ...
if i see that beggar is like acting and simply had strong body figure to go find a job i don't give them...
it also depends upon the approach if it's like just simply wanting to have some money i give little amount BUT if it's had some extra talent i give more..
