Are all addictions the same?

My friends and family always bug me about being a caffiene addict. Personally, I don't count caffiene in the same way I count nicotine, alchohal, or other drugs. I know that caffiene is a mind/mood-altering drug, but for some reason I just don't think of it as an addiction. I love my morning coffee - but I don't think I NEED it. Other disagree *laughs* - and I do joke that it might just be easier to inject the caffiene directly into my veins some mornings. Do you qualify all addictions in the same category? or are some worse/better than others?
