Its my birthday today... Debut for boys at age 21?

As far as I know debut for girls is at age 18 but they say for boys its 21... Is this true?Where did this debut thing started?What are your opinions regarding this matter....

You can celebrate it any way you want. You can invite your friends, or all of your friends. It really depends on you, how you want it to be celebrated. In your house, at the beach , as long as you like it. It is your birthday

when my brother turned 21 he had a small party those invited where only his close friends. they just drank and swimmed.
