Hi everyone well I got home yesterday late in the afternoon. The operation lasted 8 hours. They first went through the front of my neck then went through the back to put some screws in so I can hold my neck up. Im wearing a neck brace and cannot move my neck. I have to wear the brace for 6 weeks. Then I wear a soft brace for another 4 weeks.Wow I didnt realize just how much we need our neck.LOL I have no strenght in my neck but in time Im sure I will. I better. I go to get the clamps out Thursday. I wanted to thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Please continue to pray. I missed everyone very much. So tell me has everyone been good here? Anything exciting going on? Love you guys!Huggs

I think your absence has created mass hysteria. People are acting very weird. Saying they aren't posting any more discussions, then posting anyway...I've been told trolls are on the loose. And I suspect it all happened when you had your surgery!
But seriously, I'm glad you came out of surgery OK. With a neck brace on so long I bet at least you'll have excellent posture. Will they start you on physical therapy when the brace is off to rebuild your weakened neck muscles?

Hi Terry - I'm so glad you are ok after that terribly long operation - 8 hours is a long time on the operating table. I hope that everything goes to plan and you make a full recovery. I will certainly keep you in my prayers.
Bet your cats are happy to have you back home!
Anything exciting going on you ask - well my granddaughter had her first birthday last week so that was pretty exciting for us, and I enrolled at College a few days ago for a course on Medical Terminology.

Hi terry glad to see you are back. what an operation.really
entailed.Of course I will continue to pray for you and a
swift recovery. It is so true isn't it how we take our
bodies so forgranted until something goes wrong then we
really start to appreciate that particular part. Two years ago
I had a nasty fall and as a result broke my left shoulder
and had to become a bionic womanwith a shoulder joint replacement.Everyone kept telling me how lucky I was
to have broken my left shoulder. well I soon learned just
how much you really use your left arm. Of course comparedto what
you are going through my surgery was peanuts.I hope with
each stage you will go through it will get just better and
'better for you.I guess all of us have been pretty good here.there are still some meanies out there but we are not
letting them get us down. cheers and take care.

I had this surgery several years ago, to correct a disc that was causing my right hand to feel like it was in boiling oil about 90% of the time... I needed no meds after the surgery, and after the braces and therapy, my neck is great! I get sore if I keep my head down, staring at the keyboard or reading are 2 things I have a bit of trouble with still. But I'm SO glad I had it done... that was one surgery where things went right!!

I had this surgery done before too but this time they went through the back of my neck too. So now I have 2 incisions and the one in the back is about 10 inches long. I just saw it yesterday and almost fainted. This surgery was the most painful. I cant move my neck up or down at all. Maybe after the staples come out it will feel better.

Put in the time in the brace... its hard, but SO worth it! They went through the front on mine, and said I'd probably need it again, but now my problems have moved down to the middle of my back where the vertebrae are dissolving... osteoporosis stinks... get your calcium!! And take good care, my friend!

Hi Terry glad to here everything went well with your surgery and you are recovering at home. I wish you to get well soon. You do use your neck for alot of things. My dad got to where he had no strength in his neck to hold it up and he had to wear a brace to keep it up.
Maybe you can get some mylotting done while you are recupirateing take it easy and get well soon.

What a brave lady you are! To go all through that, yes I guess we tend to take our neck for granted and we only realize just how much we rely on it when we can't use it any more. Gabs has kept us updated, I haven't to be honest been on Mylot much, I have other stuff going on, I am working hard at the gym, taking part in a gym challenge and getting my head sorted out, your neck my head LOL! Sorry to jest but I hope that put a smile on your face, sending you special Wolfie hugs as I consider you a special friend too, wishing you a speedy recovery xxxx

I first started to read this discussion and then I thought, I wonder when they are going to show Frankenstein on TCM? Anyway I hope you get better , that everything went okay. Just one thing I have to tell you. Don't move your head suddenly when you hear any sudden noises and good luck on your recovery. I will continue to pray for you.

Hi Terry,
I'm so happy to see you back here. You have so much courage, and I'm thankful to see you're doing okay. It does sound so painful however, and I'll pray that you'll be able to turn your neck again soon, and that you'll have a very speedy recovery. As for excitement, Grandpa Bob's daughter is going to find out if she's having a girl, on Monday, and we're all hoping for this for her. Take care.

You're welcome. I'm sorry to hear that you're up with pain, and hope your meds kick in soon. I can't remember where you live, but it's after 4:30 a.m., here in Ontario. My sleep patterns are messed up, due to my thyroid condition etc., and once I've had a nap on the couch, I'm good to go. I must get to bed, however.

Hi Terry, I'm so glad that you are home and back on mylot. That means that you are doing well. My hubby had the same surgery on his neck a few years ago. Now he is doing really good, and has been for some time. The only thing is that he can't turn his head to far one way. He says no big deal. I will continue to think about you in your recovery.
