"It is an understatement to say that self-esteem, the elusive belief in our intrinsic worth and beauty, makes and saves lives. For many, that journey to survival is mapped on the body's surface--and begins as we extend to our most hated features the first tremblings of compassion." -- Rebecca Walker What do you think? Wow, what an excellent quote. And really, so very true. How many of us, especially women, have low self-esteem due to how we feel (or are pressured to feel by society) about certain aspects of our bodies? If we just "extend to our most hated features the first tremblings of compassion," then how much better would our self-esteem become improved? Great quote! Thanks for posting!

Hi raydene! I do agree with that quote completely! I know that I get to have a low self esteem once in awhile usually when it is the time of the month! haha..I guess, I get to find myself so ugly and so fat and so dumb during those days but being aware that it just a hormonal change, I get to fight it off and my self-esteem is not that much affected anymore when the time of the month comes by. haha..I do agree that it is important that we build our self-esteem and help others build theirs because I do believe that it can make or break a man. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

hummm, maybe I need to consider doing that - there are lots of things I don't much care for about myself....

It is a very true quote Mom! I shall definitely have to let Niall see it as his self esteem is very low at times! He is at that age where he judges himself very critically and is not at all kind or forgiving to himself! Hugs xxxx
