I heard this the other day.. Can you believe this! I can believe some homes might.. but the average? On second thought, if it includes the trash we generate, I can see how it would be true! Do you think it's true?

Considering the air in the average home is several times more polluted than outside air, I would believe it. Between fire retardants in our furniture, chemical cleaning supplies, trash, pollution of water, pesticides on lawns, etc, there are a lot of dirty things going on in the "average home" in the US. I've tried to keep cleaner by conserving water, organic gardening, using only nature friendly and recycled items, minimizing trash and maximizing recycling, and so on. There is a lot a person can do to keep their home cleaner.

That is always great thinking on this subject. I agree with you right there definitely. Yeah, I would be extra, extra careful about placing chemicals in a safe place. I would always recycle, conserve stuff, cut down on trahs, ect. Hey, minimize trash and maximize recycling. Yeah, go green. Do trash presort; recyclables from nonrecyclables that are regular trash. I have lots of stuff to keep my home going clean and green.

Dear Flowerchilde......Um.......Define...trash. If it doesn't include Bathroom Breaks , then I'd say my Family is pretty Average. But if it does include Bathroom Breaks.....Then we have enough pollution to Operate a Nuclear-Reactor! " Holy Crap !!!!!! " And I mean that in the Nicest way!!!!!!!

Yes I agree , recently, I have been noticing the amount of trash you can spot in a city. It seems where ever there are people we have plastics and cans and clothes and crockeries dumped somewhere near. Infact cities are becoming a huge garbage dumping grounds. I do agree yes an average home genrates more pollution then a car does.

The trash, the methane gas, the machinery like lawnmowers, weedwackers, tillers etc all contribute to a VAST amount of pollution oput of our households. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I learned this about a month ago, thanks to a new show on the new network, Planet Green, called "Wa$ted". But I remember hearing about it from my environmentalist friends years ago. I think it's due mostly to poor insulation and the fact that we don't turn off our utilities when not in use. Not to mention all the crap us humans create thanks to take-out boxes, styrofoam, etc.

I think it is true that if anyone at home generate lots of trash, the home overall creates pollution; not good at all. To me, I much rather recycle lots of stuff to cut down on my trash. I generate lots of recyclables. I believe that few homes might generate lots of pollution. So if I were you, I would contact Waste Management at www.wm.com. That way you can learn all about recycling.
