We have both a home line and a cell phone. We are thinking about getting rid of the home line since we use our cell phones the most. We got it when my last cell phone started working about half the time, We couldnt get a new phone for a while due to the contracts and costs of buying a phone with out siging a new contract. We could save about $50 a month by getting rid of this.

I don't use my landline...I wouldn't have it all except my mother in law refuses to disconnect it and is paying for it. it's a long complicated story but she had this house before we moved into it and even though she doesn't live here she wants us to keep the phone?
Anyways, we use verizon for our cell phone. they were cheaper than everybody else - my hubby and i have 1400 minutes, unlimited long distance and got two free phones - i think it costs us about $90 a month, which is an awful lot, but it's $50 cheaper than what we were paying before on two seperate plans.

I wish I could have a free home line. We dont ever use it much but it is nice to have now and again. We have At&t cell service and pay $160 but that is 2100 minutes and 4 lines for 4 adults so it works out to save us a little money. WE have lines for my parents to since that was where I was spending all my minutes.

that is not too bad. I didn't consider at & t but that's because about 5 years ago i reported my phone stolen and asked them to disconnect- they didn't and i wound up with a $283 phone bill they bullied me into paying! i;d imagine they're a little bit better now though!

I've got a home line and a mobile phone. I got the mobile for when I'm out and about or in the car, very useful in an emergency. But I also like to text a lot to keep in touch with friends. I couldn't do without a home phone line though, need that to get on the internet and view/record TV through it.

My Hubby thinks we need to keep the home line too so that we can record tv and order pay per view movies. I think that red box is just arround the corner and he spends enough time infront of the tv. That is one reason for me to cancle the phone right there. We have cable internet, otherwise I would never cancel my phone. I depend on the internet to much.

I have both a home phone and cell phone. I use the home phone for local calls.

We use the home line for local calls but we do a lot more long distance calls so I am thinking that I wouldnt notice the difference in my minutes. I hope.

We dont use our cell phones for anything but a phone. The cost to add on texting or multi media is outrageous to do since we have 4 line on the one package and they need to add them to each line. I feel like I am living in the dark ages though.

I have both a land line and a mobile too. I'm finding that I use the landline less and less though as I use one of the cheaper deals via the net for most of my calls. I could speak on those calls via my mobile, but the quality wouldn't be so good.

It is a tough situation all around. The land line is definately more dependable.

I'm stuck with Nextel because many of my family and friends are heavy direct connect users and we rely heavily on cell phones in the area where I live. There so many things to do outside and away from home that I rarely reach anyone at home unless it's a planned get together. For the most part Nextel is okay but I live in a rural area and there have been times when our service went out for no reason.

My Hubby has Nextel at work and I really like it, But it is a bit costly for us to transfer the family over to it. We thought about it for a short time. They are a great phone. I love the ease of just a beep beep and you are in contact.

I know that it would be a lot cheaper to just use a home phone but I live on my cell phone. I live just accrost the border from our family so every call was a long distance call so we got the cell phones to that it wasnt a charged call. Ive never tried the Vonage. I worry that my internet will go down and I wont have any phone service.
