While reading the first book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone for my daughter (she have already watched the movie), who is 7 years old, we came to the part where Harry was sent the letter of invitation to study in Hogwarts. She was keenly listening to me read tha part and after I finished she asked me Mom, what will you do if any of us, (she or her brother) got an invite from a magic school to study there when we turn 11?
It was just a simple question, but made me think hard. What will I do? I told her the answer after a few mins, that I will definitely send. As it is a rare previlage. None in my side or my husband's side could do even simple tricks. So if she/her brother gets a chance to learn to do it, why to stop?
So what will you do, if your kid gets an invite to study in a magic school like hogwarts?

No doubt about it..i will let my child go. There's no question to this. It's a once of a lifetime opportunity and every parent would be proud if their child qualifies for Hogwarts.

If that happens... i will be very very jealous since i also want to study in a school like hogwarts... but i will definitely allow her to study there... since not everyone gets that priviledge... and i will surely be very proud of her... and even ask her for some magic tricks when she is already allowed to do some outside school...

Oh I would definately let my child go, as long as he or she would want to go, if my child doesn't want to go I won't for him or her. So that's what I would do :D

yeah I like giving them choices, but you do have to limit them so they know you are in charge, but with something like this there's only two choices lol.

Well i think though i really loved the Harry Potter series but i can't believe there would be a magical school like hogwards out there. Even if there was magic but there couldn't be a proper school to teach it! I wouldn't send my child on such a invitation cause i would think that may be someone wants to kidnap my child.!!

As far as we know that the Harry potter movie and book is just a fruit of imagination... a literary works that we tend to imagine... i already read the six book of the harry potter... But If I have a child and like what age starts in the book to study at Hogwarts and my child is invited... Why not if he likes to go.. as long as he has an interest and that ability...

Well, first the child must like to go there to study because if the child does not want to then it will be a waste. Second, weight the pros and cons of the situation and third if the child opted to go, make sure there will be a trusted guardian in the school.

I think it is EXTREMELY important that our children focus on their strengths. If "magic" is one of those strengths...then by all means...I would take them to Diagon Alley (is that the right spelling? sorry if it is not) and help them pack! I would also be very jealous! :-)
