Do You Have A Favourite Waiter Or Waitress, Or Have You Ever Had One?

By this I mean, one that has actually gotten to know you (somewhat), or even very well, that you talk with, more than just discussing your choice of food, etc.
I went out for lunch the other day with a friend, and she wanted to go to a particular restaurant, partially because of the waitress. My friend takes her ninety year old mom there quite often, and they've gotten to know this 'server' very well, and call her by name. She knows their names too.
Years ago, I used to go to the same diner several days a week, and got to know two of the waitresses there. They even became aware of my food preferences, before I asked for what I wanted.
If you do have a favourite, does this make your overall dining experience more enjoyable?
Do you try to make sure that they look after your table?
Are you extra generous when tipping them?
Do you know anyone who works as a waiter/waitress, who makes it a point to get to know regular customers?
Would you recommend this eating place, because of this person?

My favorite waitress works at a middle eastern style restaurant. She knows us very well and even talks with us alot when we stop by to eat. She loves my boys and knows us all by name and she does all this and ive never left a tip ever...........
I bet youre thinking im rude lol its my mom. My mom has been a good waitress for over 30 years at the same place so she knows plenty of customers by name some will even leave if shes not working that night.

Yes I used to have one when I was working as I always used to stop of at a Cafe for a Coffee at Lunch or when I was up that way
She knew me that well when I walked in my Coffee used to be ready lol
She always used to tell me of for not having something to eat when I told her I was not hungry lol , she was the Motherly Type, when I got bullied out of my Job I knew I would not be in that Area again, she was in tears and wished me well and said she would miss me

I go about once a week to a chicken place by my work and there are a couple in there who will try to guess what I am wanting to order as I get one of about three choices They even try to get my meal on if I am waiting in line as they know I have to get back to work!
There are also people who say they look for me so that I can check out their groceries as I am their favorite and they always wait in my line!
I know the same is with my Mom as they will not go in for chinese food unless my Mom is working!
It is a great compliment

I used to go to this Restaurant. The server knew what i usually ordered, all i had to do is show a number with my fingers & he would know what dish i was ordering. He would usually save the chef's special so that I can try it out. More often than not i would love the chef's special.

yes indeed I do and I always try to sit at one of'her tables
so shewil wait on me. she has been my waitress for'so long
she knows just what I will order and what I will not.
I enjoy eating there just because of her kindness and her
waitressing abilities.

Yeah, I have had a favorite waitress before. I used to have lunch at a Family Islander restaurant within the Super KMart store in Queensbury, New York. She was really awesome. I always enjoy that. My mother used to be a waitress at North Country Pizzeria for a long time. I am sure that waiters/waitresses are real awesome. Some of them are not smart about what customers need.

Having a good server can be a huge boost to the dining experience. I used to work at the Olive Garden, so I know from inside experience. I was never a server, I was a hostess. Olive Garden's whole deal is "Hospitaliano" a slogan word they made up and trade marked, but internally it means 100% Guest Satisfaction. When I worked at the OG, we had a lot of returning customers. We even had a local news caster who would come in with his wife to eat every weekend. I think he liked the place because he knew the servers wouldn't make a deal about who he was, and we were good about sitting him where he wouldn't be bothered. (Not that news casters are that important. But some people are jerks.)
Anyway. In this day and age good customer service is going out the window fast. I went to Coco's by my work 9 months ago and it took me 45 minutes on my lunch break before I was even served my simple hamburger. The waitress didn't care that I was on my lunch break, and was apathetic to my friendliness and barely managed to get me a drink refill. Needless to say, I haven't gone back there in 9 months.
Every time we go to the Olive Garden, I used to request specific servers that I knew were good. Even at a casual dining restaurant like Olive Garden, you want the best experience for your buck because if you're an everyday joe like me, you don't go out too often. If I know I'm gonna get a bad server, I walk out. Now, my sister-in-law works there and is a server, and is great, so I always ask to sit with her.^.^
Yes, I tend to only go to restaurants who are nice. I like to know that I can rely on a friendly face and good service, even if they are stressed and busy. I'm patient, so I expect when the server is around that they at least be nice. Not hard to please. I tend to not return to a restaurant that has proved to provide bad service.
Um, and it's late and I'm tired so I don't think this long ramble made sense.
