hi there. lupus is a bugger. my 2 year old has overlapping autoimmune diseases. which means she has lupus, juvenille dermatomyositis and others (which they are still diagnosing) - autoimmune disease such as these are difficult to control and keep a watch on. its the bodys immune system turning on itself and attacking the healthy cells. where it strikes is a lottery really. why did your sister go into emergency? the poor thing.
to deal with it at home, i guess as her sister, you should make her laugh and just sit with her and watch movies together. let your parents worry about the medication. you just let her know that you love her. and she cant go in the sun, so on a hot beautiful day, choose to sit inside with her instead. this will make her feel like she isnt on her own.
the pain can go from one spot to the other, so any changes in the body and its functions should be reported to her doctors.
good luck to your sister, you and your parents. god bless

Lupus is a rare disease and I am sorry for your sister and your family. Doctors would probably have some home care regimen and I would not recommend getting advice from the net where there is no assurance that the advice will be good enough for the care of your sister. It's better to get hand's on advice from professionals.
