We have been looking at houses since January and we have found several that we want.. well after spending hundreds of dollars on home inspections only to find out that the electrical or the plumbing or the roof or the foundation needs fixed or replaced and the sellers not willing to fix it had me almost convinced not to buy then the icing on the cake came yesterday from the company we are going thru to get our mortgage we have been preaproved since jan and now they called and said ohh there is an old bill we found from 2001 that you must take care of so there is an additional 500 dollars we must come up with which will have to come out of our downpayment. And to top it all off we have "friends" that have basically lived on welfare their entire marriage with 4 kids and they got a loan no strings and no down payment needed.. why is it if you try to live right pay your bills be a responcible adult you get crap but if you do what you want and take no responcibility for anything you get the world handed to you?? .. thanks for reading my rant lol some stress has been relieved

Have you been to a homebuyers class. They usually help with downpayment costs if you complete the classes. I am not sure what is available in your area. Here is a website to check out if you would like more information. www.ameridream.org

Ugh! I just went through the same exact thing! It's so rough finding the house you want and then once one thing looks good to go, something else is going to crap. I am SOOOOOO glad it's over. And trust me, you will too when it's done! It made me want to pull my hair out. And on top of that I had (and still have) a mylotter harassing me about it. If you want, I'll tell you all about it. Just add me to your friends and send me a message.

Yeah, it's so dumb. That's life for the middle class, for ya. You sound like a liberal, you're okay by me.

Well, I would be a little upset if I were you as well. They told you were approved, and now they have the New past bill on there? Either it is something that just went to a Credit agency, or something that failed to show the first time? Lately, it seems like if you do not have Perfect credit, sometimes it is almost impossible to get a Loan for something. And then our problem was also saying that our Expenses were too high for income. All I can say about the other thing, it is a Shame sometimes how some can get help for something while others have to struggle, and usually the ones who get something for nothing only continue to use others never stopping to think, and don't care who they hurt in the process. But what I cannot understand is how can they give people on Welfare etc. Loans like this and not expect them to falter on them eventually as well. Just my thoughts.

well thankfully we found out that the bill wasnt ours but it was somehow attached to our name so they took it off and our debt to income ratio is out of this world we have like 5 % debt to 95% income so on that we are doing really well.. and what gets me is we know people who will blow every penny they make on stupid "toys" like 3 wheelers and stuff and they live not even paycheck to paycheck cause they are usually calling everyone they know to get money until payday just to feed their kids and yet they get approved for a home loan and everyone knows they will default on the loan then tear the house to shreds when it gets repo'ed so ya i agree with you there.. thanks for the comments to

Your situation is really stressing. Just be calm. Usually when I'm stressed, I breathe in and out deeper.

Wow this sounds like an awful situation. Hopefully it has resolved some since you originally posted this. I feel like realtors or someone else should pay for the inspection - its too much! Maybe you can write it off on taxes this year at the very least....BEst of luck to you!
