Do you let things get you down?

Today I got a disturbing email from someone who has blown something out of proportion. At first I was a little upset by it, but I brought it up to my husband and we actually laughed and took light of it. I mean, it probably bothers that person more than it bothers me. It was actually a coincidence that I was logged into that email address because I seldom use that address.
Anyway, this has got me to thinking. Some people try to make others lives hell and they may say mean things to kick you down. But when someone says something mean to you, you can turn it around and spin it in a positive way. I mean, you just think that heck, it bothers them more than it bothers me.
I don't even have to kick these people down like they've tried to me because I mean, I'm sure life will get them in the end.
What do you think? Any thoughts?

I let thing get me down most the time. I just can't seem to help it.. I guess it doesn't help with the depression.

I have friends who suffer through depression. Although I don't know what it's like, I can understand that depression is difficult and something that you just can't shake off.
A (+) for your response.

I agree with you-in the end, they will be the ones who are down cause they will just end up making life miserable for themselves by fussing over things like that. I usually get a little down at first when things like that happen to me, but if I take the time to think about how silly it is, then I can usually come back around and laugh about it later. I know someone who sort of tries to get people down a lot, and I really let him upset me in the past, but I have finally realized that I think he does it because he is just unhappy in his own life and is jealous of others who are not, so he probably just tries to pull others down with him. I now know just to ignore him and try not to spend too much time around him!

The only time I let things bother me is when it effects my ghildren. Other than that I just let it go in one ear and out the other. It is not worth my time or energy to let it bother me. I have more important things to take care of and they take priority.

I don't let things get me down based on the idea that it is only one persons opinion and while they are entitled to that it does not mean that I have to agree with it.
