Another water saving tip:
although i love spraying our plants with a hose, do this sparsely. make sure that you water your plants just enough for them to survive. then do refresh them from time to time with a spray during the evenings, especially during summer months. this will also refresh your surroundings and diffuse the heat inside your house. but please, not everyday.
When living in the city, do not water plants excessively, just enough, not letting water drip around the pot.
another reminder to save planet earth!

great thoughts! We really have to watch our plants here in the south. I use a bucket and haul water rather than a hose. It takes a little longer, but it saves on water. These are fantastic tips!

I've got buckets out to collect rain water. That's mainly what I use, and it's totally free (and better for the plants!).
Very rarely will I have to use the hose. I wish I had a large enough container to make a real rain barrel, then I wouldn't have to use it at all.
Thanks for bringing this up - we all need the reminder!

Thanks for this reminder. Though I seldom do this when I'm home. I could tell them to follow what you have said.
