Can dogs count?

Okay forget about the dogs great sense of smeel for a second and listen... if you had 4 pieces of foood and you shown your dog them... then threw one on the floor... then two and then three. Would it know you had another piece of food in your hand?

I think he would be able to smell it. Or hope that you had another.
