We have a restaurant called Portillo's who makes the best chopped salad in the entire world. It has so many good things in it, I forget them all but it is not traditional, the best part is the honey walnuts. The dressing is their house dressing but I can't put a finger on the flavor. It's sweet but not too sweet. It is the world's most perfect salad.
But if I try to make a salad at home, they just seem so boring. Even if I buy "fancy" ingredients, I can't make them taste like a restaurant salad. Besides, by the time I have bought all the stuff I could have bought 2 perfect salads. So I don't usually make salad at home all that much. But I will go out and get one, once in awhile.

I adore salad and will use most anything in them! We usually have at least shredded lettuce, sliced onion, carrot ribbons, sweetcorn, diced peppers, spring onions and small cherry or plum tomatoes but often add pineapple or apple and whatever else takes our fancy and mood! I love dressing but my kids aren't keen so I don't have it that often - when I do I love vinaigrette or balsamic! xxx

I eat a salad every day with my supper since I am dieting and want to lose more weight than I already have. I have lost 28 pounds in the last 4 months and I still have about 15 pounds to go before I reach my goal weight. I don't eat any carbs, or very little, so I have to eat salads but that isn't a problem for me, as I love salads. I make a salad with everything in it. I use lettuce and onions and other veggies like tomatoes and radishes and peppers and celery and boiled eggs and sometimes some meat like ham, and all kind of other veggies. I don't find them tastelss and quite often that is all I have for dinner. But usually I will have a protein too, like fish or chicken or beef or pork, whatever. I use a low calorie dressing and don't use very much of it. Or sometimes I use just oil and vinegar, depends on my mood. But I do make my salad the main portion of my meal.

theres all sorts of kinds of "salad" dearie.. ya got potato salad.. pasta salad.. taco salad.. lobster salad.. shrimp.. green..3 bean.. the list goes on and on. not to mention coleslaw.. which is another type of salad altogether!! im going to assume that yer meaning the lettuce base types with lots of raw veggies in em. and it all depends on how theyre made and whatcha put in em. ive gotten salads from restaurants that were no more than a bowl full of iceburg with a tomato wedge... a wilted cucumber slice.. and a greek olive. nasty.. that isnt a SALAD its a snack for a rabbit! then theres things like those luscious cob salads.. that have everything under the sun in them, and to even think about putting dressing on them would be blasphemous. (can ya tell imma little obsessive about salads? ) i love the things.. with or without dressing.. when i make them myself, i toss everything into them (dont forget the cheeZe and bacon!!) and i judge a restaurant by how they prepare theirs. if they cant make a decent salad.. i wont go back there.

I love green salads. I add a ton of stuff! Any vegetables I can find, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, olives, bacon. I always use salad dressing unless the vegetables are very fresh from the garden, then I just put black pepper on it!

I love salads, especially during the summer months. My husband loves them as well. I love low carb salads and use the healthiest of veggies in my salads. Most of the time it's romaine lettuce broken up, cucumbers cut up into quarters, shredded carrots (but not always since the carbs are high on them), intimation bacon bits, and cherry tomatoes. Rarely do I ever use croutons. I always use salad dressings, yes I'm watching my carbs but love regular salad dressings. My favorite is creamy Caesar, however will also use French, Thousand Island, Blue Cheese and Ranch.
During the hot summer months, I make a large bowl of salad and top it with canned chicken and croutons as a dinner salad like the kind that are sold at McDonald's as a meal instead of a side. Just wanted to add my comments. Thank you.

I can only eat salads when it has dressing on it. I don't think it taste good with out dressing. When my mom was younger she used to call it rabbit food because only rabbits ate salads.

I had the strangest salad last night at the formal event I attended with my sweetie. It was dandelion greens, a poached pear and some feta cheese. I didn't eat the cheese but the pear on the dandelions was good.

aren't dandelions a weed .. No I know that they are used in salads. I just don't think I can bring myself to eat the dandelions without thinking of the yellow flower type thing...

Salads are as tasteful as you make them but my favorites are tomatoe and cucumber with a little dill or shredded carrot salad with plump raisins. Theres so many variations of the salad its hard to pin it down unless your having just a iceberg salad which is great for quickies but a few leaves of romaine, some shredded parmesan and flavored olive oil does the same trick and takes seconds! I guess it could be an acquired taste but the benefits are worth it to me especially the day after having a large meal, gets your body back to normal and regular and not lagging behind.

My take on salad is that it at least needs a dressing. My absolute favorite would be Iceberg with Blue Cheese. But a nice Cobb salad isn't something I'd sneeze at. As long as there is some dressing on a salad - and preferably if somebody else prepared it for me - I'd eat it. I'm not kidding here folks I really don't make salad for myself.

I love salads...in fact, what I'm going to do tomorrow is make my own homemade macaroni salad with chopped up onions, tomatoes and onions, and also some homemade potato salad..I already have the lettuce and I got some cans of tuna to make tuna salad..so tomorrow night is going to be salad dinner night for me....sometimes I even boil up an egg and make deviled eggs to go with it. I do use a salad dressing..usually Italian or Ranch

Oh gosh I LOVE salad!! I love lettuce, cheese, carrots, black olives, califlower, brockli and pinapple or peaches or both! And I'd love blue cheese salad dressing. Talking about good!! mmmmm!! I've been wanting a "real" salad for days now and have yet to get one but I will eventually. (when I get rich enough, can't afford one right now with all the gas money going to see my mom at the hospital)

Hi bella,
I like salad, if i make it at home myself. I don't like the ones sold in the bags at the stores, they are yuck to my tastebuds.
I make my own using lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and a sprinkle of garlic salt. Yummy! I like to put mine in the fridge to get a bit chilled too before I eat it. I don't like salad dressing for some reason...
