I have always heard that swimming is THE best exercise you can do. It exercises every part of your body, and gives a good cardio-vascular workout...which is good for our hearts. Besides giving a good workout, it's also gentler on the body. We weigh less when we are in water, so it's easier on our joints while still doing the job. Lots of times they use water exercise for physical therapy for this reason. The Drs also suggest it for older people who have arthritis, and many other things because it's easier on the body. If I had a YMCA, or pool around, I'd be doing it myself, because it's one of the best forms of exercise there is.

I would also agree it is the best exercise though I have two reasons.
1- it exercises every part of the body blah blah blah
2- (my personal reason) I hate exercise! However I do like swimming and badminton, especially swimming because it takes me longer to tire out. There's something about the water that makes me be able to do loads and loads and loads of laps without really tiring out. And when I do feel the tire I can just stop for 5 mins and go again. I've yet to find another method of exercise that really has the same exact effect.

i agree with you. me too same as you, dont like to do tiring exercises. if we need to keep ourself fit, without doing muscle breaking exercises, we can do swimming.that keeps us fit.

yes, I believe that swimming is exercising as well... actually, almost all sports will make your body work out since you will be using all your strength in doing the sports we really like.

yes, all the sports makes our body work. but swimming gives workout for the entire body. which is an effective exercise.

JoyfulOne is right. It's a good allaround exercise, which is pretty easy and you don't break a sweat doing it;)

Not at all or I could not say that this is the best where in fact if you want to lose weight you can't just use swimming as exercise. There are many sports that are important and the best too aside from swimming. Learning swimming is not only for sports but a big advantage in real life. There are other people said that swimming can make your legs or arms bigger but of course it is still depends.

Well swimming is very good exercise. As a matter of fact it is really the only kind of exercise I can really do. I have been disabled for over 22 years because of bad back problems.I can not walk very far.the water takes the weifgh of of my body, therfore I can do exercises in the water that I can not do other wise. Water therapy is very good for those with medical problems like arthritis and things like this.

I think swimming is one of the best forms of exercise to do as when you are swimming you are exercising every part of your body, many muscles etc. So it is an all round sport that you can do and you will know that it is exercising everythnig possibly in your body.
I like to swim and we take the children swimming al ot. I can swim a mile in just over an hour. Boy do I feel fit and worn out when I get out hte pool.

It is not the best but it is certainly a good exercise. It makes us feel lighter and develops the lax and back.

sure, swimming is the best exercise. while swimming whole body gets moved. there is no need to do any other exercise, if u practice swimming regularly. each and every muscle will moved. the body will be moved in the shape of sine wave(with ups and downs). so its the best.

Yes, swimming is one of the best or probably the best exercise cause it give all your body parts the chance to move underwater plus it's a fun way to exercise. It's one of the most recommended physical activities to all.
