You need money to make money - Stressful to get started

Well, we are constantly against a brick wall, because we are broke. I want to start the goat farm, with the eventual goal of being able to hire people with disabilities, and to produce our own products locally from the milk. Problem is no money, we are renting a small farm, which we have nothing on paper, so can't claim on taxes. Hubby works, and we pay the mortgage on the house, and thats it, groceries, and other everyday needs, we have 4 children. Can't really do anything with the rented property as its not ours, and no lease, its costing us 3 times the normal rate, and we have to buy feed for the goats we have. No local authorities or enterprise boards will help us. We are not big enough or established. Case of the little red hen and the grains of wheat. It's like we got the train on the right track but no engine or fuel to get it running. We have equipment we need, as I turned away so many people for the milk. I am the only person in the family who can hand milk, and I've been ill for a couple of months now. I won't sell any of the hand milked as the goats can kick, and dirt gets in it, so it ends up with the animals. There is no help from family, and I get sick of these people spamming you saying that they want to help you with money - yeah right - scam artists. I had a blow up today, everyone wants their meals cooked, their laundry done, evrything done for them. Mind you my eldest is 16, and youngest 7. I think they should be helping more, but I end up with sore throats constantly because nobody will listen till I have an explosion then everyone is chipping in for about an hour or two. I end up exhausted and ill. Trying to do everything, as I want them to have something at the end of the day, especially the younger ones, as the 2nd youngest is supsceptible to being down in himself a lot, and has dyspraxia. The animals have helped his confidence immensely. Aargh, got to vent, yes i am depressed but I have to keep going.

Honey... breathe. Take a moment, gather your thoughts, put down on paper what all EXACTLY you need. When you write it down, then it's not all crowding in your head and you can focus better. A place that I frequent online is my local craigslist. They have a "barter" section, "wanted" section, "farm" section... You'd be surprised at what your local community would have to offer if they knew someone needed it. Just a thought.
Kids should be a bit more helpful. When I was on bedrest for my recent pregnancy, my 13 y/o and my step 8 y/o had to step up to the plate. My step 8 y/o has a lot of "issues", among them ADHD. Sometimes she could pass for being autistic. But, you be firm, you are the MOTHER. They don't do their chores, then they DON'T get special privileges, i.e. cable tv, sweets/dessert, hang with friends, etc. Or they end up with more of the other child's chores. And I didn't have a lot of help from dad because he was at work all the time, and spanking doesn't do any good when you have a child with "issues".
I feel your pain and your stress. Take it day by day and FORCE yourself to find a way to relax. You won't accomplish anything being stressed out. Best of luck to you.

Was just re-reading my comment, man I was really stressed, feeling better, with livestock you get deadstock. We are not so badly off, there is food on the table. Some Overtime will be in this week, I said that we had the equipment - we need to get a portable milking machine, cream separator, pasteurizer. So hopefully in the next few weeks that will happen! Anyway, got some gorgeous Weegie cross kittens running around here, all booked for homes, (free). If I keep plugging at it, eventually we will get a proper farm up and running and be able to help the children with issues who don't have a chance with animals normally! On a pleasant note, I registered the name The Caprine Scene!! B

True, its what keeps me going. Trying to teach family things about working. Otherwise it would be in front of the tv constantly. I went to the rented farm this morning and our valuable breeding male was down, he got stuck on the slats, and must have been there all night. I had to pull him out one leg at a time, and brought him outside. Fingers crossed that he makes it, I don't really care that my clothes smell like a buck goat. Light was on the dashboard again - another thing to keep fingers crossed on - no car = no school , no work - no money

What can I say? You seem to have cornered the market on problems and hopelessness. Everything you need to decide is within your reach. What is it? Only you know. Sometimes help is so near you can't see it. I could tell you my troubles but nah, yours are much better than mine; I could never compete.

you are a noble person. i do understand and I can feel your frustrations. everything will fall into place soon.. just pray.
we will all pray for you.
there are a lot of problems in this world, it makes us stronger, your kids will grow the brightest and the smartest and will help you once they understand what life is to you and to your family.

Most time, its my work..with ontime deliveries and work loads. I try to divert mind on music and i feel better. We need to manage stress, as it is part of life in busy world.
But if we concentrate, we can manage it. I does it through my yoga, listening music and going out on vacation.
