How do you think about human-animal hybrids?

Fiction will become reality! Were you someone who was always laughing when you saw a horror-movie with a half man half lizard thing? Well, time to stop laughing! However, the example that i just gave you, is a bit over the top (atleast, that's what i hope!) but still hybrids will come.
You can think that i'm a complete nutter, but i'm not making this up. One day, i was reading a website that involves mysteries and i found this article:
---------------
British scientists got approval from the autorities to create human-animal hybrids. The permission for creating half man, half animal-creatures has been granted by the HFEA (Human fertilisation and embryology Authority)
--------------
There could be a few spelling mistakes in the article, because the original article i found was dutch, so i translated it for you.
Do you still not believe me? Have a look on the HFEA's website: http://www.hfea.gov.uk/en/1517.html#consultation
(copy and paste it)
There you can find more information about it.
The reason why they granted permission for this investigations is because they hope it will give us more treatments against a load of diseases.
But now, how do you think about it? Are they going too far? Or do you believe in 'scientifical-freedom'?
