What happen to the idea of personal flying cars? I think we have few models already, but models are very expensive for mass production. Can you imagine having one of those flying cars running on alternative energy instead of oil? Would you fly if models are affordable? Would you fly in personal air vehicles? http://cafefoundation.org/v2/pav_rttf_a.php

(Continuing my convo with Pola here) Probably taking pictures of the Atlantic Ocean might make a good addition to your portfolio, & then maybe the London Skyline, if there is any such thing. Maybe if we can fit more than two people, we have a third passenger to travel around the world with us. I wonder if this little doggie might enjoy the trip also ...

Gabs, I would love to walk if I am in UK. Europe is easier to walk everywhere. (Thank you)

That's exactly bow I feel, too! My dad had an airplane, and I flew in it only a few times. I've never been on a commercial jet. I wish it were easier to walk everywhere here. Where I live, you have to drive to the store or go to a restaurant. I should have been born in Europe.

Vlad is correct according to the national Aviation Industry. These PAV would fly at about 8,000 feet only to avoid the commercial airlines etc. And they would get over 40 MPG using a bio diesel fuel as well. very clean and economical. 30 years they may be here for us all. Maybe sooner. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

This would revolutionize the way things are done. At this time, yeah - if it is out & on the market, it would be VERY expensive, like all new things that first arrive on the market (such as when CD's & the first CD player came out). I probably would not be able to afford one of these. It would also have a significant impact on society. If it can fly high enough, it would eleminate the need fro roadways. However, it would cause a significant increase in airline traffic. While the impact would mean less land needed allocated for roads, it would take some major restructuring of society to accomplish things. At present, there is FAA (Federal Aviation Administration - government run regulators of air transportation) for airplanes, & probably space vehicles). It is run by the federal government, meaning that it has nation-wide jurisdiction. Then in probably each state, we have state-run DMV's (Department of Motor Vehicles) for cars, trucks, motorcycles, & other motor/engine-run things on the roads. These offices are responsible for rule & regulations, issuing licenses & permits, etc, basically to make things safe. As this new form of transportation becomes popular, cars will become obsolete, & therefore, either the state-run DMV offices will either become useless, & will either be eliminated or absorbed by the FAA. That would also require educating & re-training of some DMV personnel. Car & truck mechanics will end up having to find new lines of work. This may also mean having to learn the mechanics of these new vehicles to carry on their careers as mechanics. There is a lot more travel area in the air than on the roads, but not sure how much more or less of a hazard if everyone had one of these personal flying vehicles. However, being that speeds will be higher than in cars, accidents will not be quite as easy to just up & walk away from. Biggest of all, because of the higher speeds, it will also take less travel time to get from one place to another. However, it also depends on what powers the vehicles. If it runs on bio-diesel as in that video, food prices will probably go up & worse than the present situation we are in. If I had one, I'd say to you to go grab your camera & plenty of memory for it, so I can come get you for a trip around the world.

Yeah - I drive, you take pictures. Can you imagine the phtography collection of all of the landscapes, ocean views, & other things that you can add to your portfilio? You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one OOPSIE! Did I just start a song annoyingly playing in your head?

I heard when I was a little kid a long time ago that the technology for the 'flying car' was feasable but that GoodYear (or some other tire company) held the patent on it and so it 'didn't get off the ground'... literally. Don't know how true all that is. Thanks Zelo

It is very possible. Same like electric cars technology. It is there for over 80 years.

Over 80... it's been there ever since cars have been in existance... it has been a lot longer than 80 years. You are absolutely right. Zelo

If I could afford one, I would be flying to work every day. I've been reading off and on about the Moller Skycar since the 1990s. They were getting to a point where they were ready to talk to the FAA about skyways - air corridors to be set aside for flying cars. But then 9/11 happened. They are still working on the skycar, though. I like the one in this video, too. I'm so glad to see you back on myLot, pola!

I was reading about Moller Skycar long time ago. I don't think is about 9/11.... There is much more into the story than just 9/11...

I was just guessing about 9/11. It seemed that around that time I was thinking that only rich people and criminals could afford a skycar. Then 9/11 happened and I leaped to the conclusion that people with very bad intent could do a lot of damage in a skycar.

I guess that cars best suit the Philippine traffic situation now. Maybe we can try one, I love to try it. But for now, I will just have my motorcycle get rid of the traffic.

anything that runs on environment friendly fuel I'd like to have one of those, at least I will try save money to get it I don't mind sharing with other household if we can share time using it and money for fuel, maintenance, this and that purchase - but hubby will surely complain :)

AN interesting idea, but if everyone will be able to have one of those there will probably be traffic jams in the air instead of the roads LOL I'm not sure if I would or not fly one but I would certainly be curious about it.

I would not fly in in a personal air car. I guess that's because I would just be to scared. I mean I get nervous enough driving on the ground. I can only imagine how I would be in the air.

i think people would now need to get a special license for flying vehicles. most people in society cant even handle driving a car on the ground properly. we have enough driving a car mess. who wants to increase the mess in the sky? the few commercial planes and airline planes are enough in our skies, with occasional blimps and balloon flying by once in a while. we have enough pollution on the ground level. in a way, it is a good idea that flying cars havent been invented yet. the pollution will eventually increase in the sky, and the earth will self-combust. i think before we actually start to invent flying cars, we must make sure there is space on other planets to live so that we can escape to other planets when the earth self-destructs from all the pollution in the ground level and sky created by cars and the future flying cars and more flying vehicles... this recent Green project going on is trying to clean and save your planet from all the wasting, abuse and negligence from society.

While with some friends of mine we had a discussion about this subject. We thought hoover cars like the jestsons. I thought it would be cool if they were fueled with human waste converted into fuel. Dont laugh! Because i heard on the news that they are trying to now convert human waste into fuel for cars. Someone here in Denver has a car that is fueled on the old greese that the resturants throw out. I remember when i was younger we used to think it would be cool to have phones like the jetsons and now whe have internet and webcams where we can talk and see the person just like the jetsons phones...Hummm.

Why not put a circuler super conducter under the car, then after ingageing the S.C. induce a magnetic feild into the coil producing an anti gravity feild, and producing a small black hole that can be used as a gravataional drive?

The movie was amusing, but this line disturbed me..."Anyone who can rent a rental car will be able to get a PAV license and rent a PAV"....wow that is scary! I see how people drive and can you imagine having to worry about those drivers crashing over, or into, your house? Yikes. There are enough idiots with too much money and their own private planes as it is. I cringe whenever I hear something fly over my house. No, it sounds like fun, but I really don't want to see this happen.

I'd settle for a non-flying car that didn't run on gasoline to save money! But a flying car is a really cool idea. I wonder how it would work though so that we all just wouldn't fly into eachother?

if I can afford one,I will drive it to travel around the whole world.I will drive it atop the summit of mt.qingmolangma, and drive it across the pacific ocean. I will definitely drive it to work every morning. but I'm afraid whether the air traffic is good or not,if the day comes.

well i guess flying cars is not a fiction in the present days i guess that world would reach to a point where nano technology would grow and also a technology which fuel vehicle which is not oil but i think that would be nuclear fuel and i guess in a near future the fly cars would be affordable and i will be very much eager to fly in it
