Outsourcing

I have heard that a lot of people particularly in the US are against Outsourcing, would it be business process outsourcing or call center as it cuts back job opportunities for the americans. A lot of companies nowadays are bringing jobs offshore particularly here in the Philippines where call center and BPO are large. What are your thoughts about this, does this really provide a benefit for the majority or otherwise?

I have said this on other threads and I will say it again on this one. I won't buy anything that costs more than ten dollars from a company that outsources their customer service. Not only are most operators poorly trained and can't answer questions but there is no one to complain to or ask specific questions. It's someone reading off a script .. and a poorly written one at that.

The reason why companies do outsourcing is to save money. Instead of paying someone, for example in the US something like $7 an hour, they can pay someone somewhere else 70 cents. The workers could sometimes be mistreated and work in unsafe surroundings.
