Being stranded on an island may be a good idea of adventure, but visiting one for sight seeing is a safer and exhilirating experience altogether. There are a few Islands in the Indian Ocean namely Andaman & Nicobar,Maldives and Mauritius that are popular tourist spots.Do you know of other such Island destinations and their specialty.Do post on these.

Philippines is an island country, and there are so many islands here. We have hundred islands in Pangasinan which is a tourist destination. We have also many islands in the Visayas and Mindanao region of the Philippines known for white sand beaches like Boracay, with marine sanctuaries and great surfing sites. Siargao island located eastward from Surigao, Mindanao Philippines is the surfing capital of the Philippines. Situated in a cove facing the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by limestone and granite sculptures.
Still there are many islands unexplored.

Yes, I really love to visit tropical islands, spend time on palm fringed beaches and go snorkeling in the warm sea. I have been to the Seychelles and there I found some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I flew into Mahe Island, then went to La Digue Island and next went to Praslin Island. I hired a bike and rode over to the other side of La Digue, finding a track past a few gorgeous looking beaches. I saw some giant tortoises and walked in an amazing ancient forest.
I have also been to the Maldives. I flew into Male and got a boat transfer to Asdu Island. There I spent time on the palm fringed beach, snorkeling around the house reef, taking a canoe around the island, reading a book in a shady spot and taking photos each evening during the stunning sunset. I remember strolling along the shore line and seeing baby sharks in the shallow water. Wow! I spend a couple of days looking around the capital, Male, buying a few souvenirs. Then I flew on a tiny plane for over an hour to Gan Island. Equator Resort was an old British air base and then it was turned into a hotel with a large swimming pool.
I would love to go to Mauritius. It would be fascinating to go to Madagascar.

I live on the Isle of Wight which is a fairly small island of the coast of england. It has the most beautiful walks at some points you can see the english channel and the solent. Historical building are a plenty, loads of nice places to eat. Queen Victoria used to live here!!!
