sewage in the basement

I just recently had by sewer back up in the basement and ruined everything. Has anyone had this happen to them and how successful were you in getting the city to resolve the issue? I've heard so many people have this happen to them. What should I do?

That really sucks. The city should do something about the sewer system. It is their job. As to whether you can get them to pay for this disaster, it is better to consult a lawyer.

Thanks for your response Underdog. Your right, and that is my next step. I feel like I pay city taxes and they should be making sure the sewers are free of debris. I will deffinantly get in touch with my lawyer.
